You're reading too much into it.

Posted - 07/18/2005 : 14:52:31 I wouldn't say battling, I'm actually agreeing that he could be right about the reason why I'm not as into those songs. There's only one song on the album that I actually disliked and it was Another Velvet Nightmare. By the way Jon, was there a conscious Van Morrison influence or was I just reading too much into it? |

Posted - 07/18/2005 : 10:29:34 You know Jon, I bet you're right about being worn down by the early stages of the record as that does seem to be how I feel when I get there. I will try starting with those and see how it changes. It is a very deep album and emotionally draws you in very early on. My 2 boys (ages 6 & 3) love Song Of The Shrimp, they think it's hilarious that the shrimp are talking to each other about such things. |

Posted - 07/18/2005 : 05:57:16 nice review jeff. song of the shrimp is one of my fav's as well.
definately check out frank's previous work. a lot of his stuff does take numerous spins..... but then you just get hooked! teenager of the year is a classic. actually all of his stuff are classics... i would say his more recent stuff resembles slightly more to honeycomb or gives hints to honeycomb- black letter days and show me your tears.

Posted - 07/18/2005 : 05:20:01 Dear Jeff,
The songs which you weren't too keen on are among my favorites on the record. I think your lack of interest in them has more to do with the rest of the record wearing you out emotionally before you got to "Storage" and "Honeycomb." May I suggest that next time you listen, try starting with those six middling tracks.
Otherwise, a fine review.
bye, Jon Tiven |

Posted - 07/18/2005 : 04:41:39 That's pretty cool. Although it's not a xylophone on I Burn Today, sounds like a glockenspiel to me. Strange also that you didn't like Honeycomb and My Life Is In Storage, my 2 faves on the album. But hey, to each his own. Very nice review all in all, Jeff.
