A very brief review by Greg Olwell; what were the odds on Bassplayer.com not mentioning David Hood's input?:

http://www.bassplayer.com/story.asp?sectioncode=22&storycode=9446

Just days before alterna-demigods the Pixies began their reunion tour last year, the group’s frontman/guitarist Frank Black recorded an Americana/Southern soul-flavored solo record in Nashville. Calling on session legends like Muscle Shoals’ David Hood, former Stax guitarist Steve Cropper, and drummers Chester Thompson and Anton Fig, Black’s catchy, off-kilter songs are raised to new levels of somber beauty by the group’s soulful accompaniment and counterbalanced by Hood’s buoyant bass lines.
