Posted - 05/28/2005 : 18:23:42 Just had an email from the V.V. listserv and Kevin mentioned meeting FB...
sad to hear that ALL their equipment was stolen over in the U.K....Anita had some gorgeous guitars...
Here's the email: Hey Friends.
It's been far too long and thought I'd drop in a hello from the road. We're in Vienna, Austria right now and it's been a whirlwind of a 1st-Euro tour. To begin with...we had a week of promo-ish type things and did some MTV banter as well as doing some pretty dope acoutstic BBC sessions. True story: Walking into BBC6 studios downtown Soho area and someone from a record label says "Kevin....I'd like you to meet Charles". Frank Black...or 'Charles' as I can now call him, and I shared a cool moment of thoughts of our Northwest homes and shook hands and wished each other good luck on our tours. It was a great way to start things out. Also did the BBC Radio 1 "Blue Room" sessions (proper electrified) that have become legendary through the likes of Zepplin, The Who, Beatles, etc... Pretty incredible. We've got the masters from the recording and plan on releasing it before the years end. Don't need to say how good it sounds. You could probably sneeze in that room and it would be heavenly. However..... With every up there is a down....and the night after our 1st sold out show at Madame Jo Jo's in London...all our gear got stolen. Everything. Every last drop. All of Anita's guitars (yes, even the double neck), electronics, keyboards, the whole she-bang. The real purpose of sending this email is that my hope is that some or most of you are somewhat familiar with our sound and maybe have seen us live at some point. If you live in the London / Kings Road area, watch eBay religiously or can otherwise recover any of our gear, there will be a handsome reward of some sort. Haven't figured it out yet....but I'll make it worth yr time. Greatly. The real ones that we're having the hardest time losing are two of Anita's guitars: A Danelectro Double-neck white guitar - Baritone & Standard / white with a custom gold-ish psychedelic pickguard. Here's a pic: http://www.vivavoce.com/liveshots/WIDE_vv01.jpg .and a mid-60's Hagstrom strat style guitar. Lavender/white in color with a non-removable tremolo bar. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The hottest depth of hell is reserved for those who steal from a hard working band. This blow came the night before our European tour with Thrill Jockey's Bobby Conn. We're making it happen regardless....testament to our relentless drive to bring the rock to the good people of Europa! And it is in fact happening. So,...light a candle for us and we'll be back on home soil soon enough. Just in time to start the machines up for the next LP - which is already promising to be a doozy.
I know this was a long one...so thanks for reading! Hope all is well in your world and best wishes from us both. Take care. xo - kevin / viva voce

Posted - 05/30/2005 : 12:59:11 Gear-stealing really seems to be on the rise as of late. It's really disturbing. Honestly, you'd think that stealing stuff like that would be more trouble than it's worth.
