Frank Black Reveals Honeycomb Tracklist

Matt Amis reports:
As previously reported, amid the Pixies-reunion-tour-mania, frontman Frank Black is prepping a new solo LP, the down south, Americana-tinged Honeycomb, to be released on July 19 through Back Porch Records/EMI. Now, more details on are beginning to creep into the picture regarding the Jon Tiven-produced LP. Namely, a tracklist! The album features 11 original songs from Black, including "Atom in My Heart", "Another Velvet Nightmare" (co-written with Reid Paley), "Go Find Your Saint", "Violet", "I Burn Today", and "My Life Is in Storage". Three cover songs round things out: Doug Sahm's "Sunday Sunny Mill Valley Groove Day", Roy Bennett and Sid Tepper's "Song of the Shrimp"-- which was made popular by Elvis Presley in the film Girls, Girls, Girls-- and Dan Penn and Chips Moman's "Dark End of the Street". Here's the tracklist:

01 Selkie Bride
02 I Burn Today
03 Lone Child
04 Another Velvet Nightmare
05 Dark End of the Street
06 Go Find Your Saint
07 Song of the Shrimp
08 Strange Goodbye
09 Sunday Sunny Mill Valley Groove Day
10 Honeycomb
11 My Life Is in Storage
12 Atom in My Heart
13 Violet
14 Sing for Joy

In related news, Black fansite www.frankblack.net is reporting that a second disc will spring from the above mentioned Nashville sessions. Black is hoping for a January 2006 release for the album, which is currently under the working title The Sicilian. Likely, the success of Honeycomb will be a determining factor.

Honeycomb features some help from legendary Southern-rock musicians such as Steve Cropper, Spooner Oldham, David Hood, and Chester Thompson. "I can say without a doubt that the Honeycomb session was the most moving and mind-blowing experience I've ever had in my musical career," Black said in a press release. "Steve Cropper co-wrote the first rock 'n' roll song that I ever sang in front of an audience ["In The Midnight Hour"]. It was a pure pleasure to come full circle with Mr. Cropper."

No immediate plans have been made for a Honeycomb-induced tour, but Black still has plenty of gigging left this summer with the rest of his Pixies. Here are those summer dates once again in case you missed 'em:

this is the first time i've seen the tracklist
i think Sing for Joy was a nice opener for the leaked version, but a perfect ending to the official release it will be
honeycomb further into the record than what i thought, too.

Selkie Bride opening? Nice, Mr Black

I thought the bulk of the Sicilian/Nashville II came from a separate recording session to Honecomb?
