"The book collects Waits interviews from Interview, Playboy and other sources, and includes snippets from his adventures in Fishing With John (where he put a damn fish down his pants), as well as TV appearances with David Letterman. The collection features a foreward by Frank Black'', CJM writes. From: http://eyeballkid.blogspot.com/ |

Posted - 11/12/2005 : 00:03:17 (Hi, Oisin!)
I read something about Tom Waits putting a fish down his trousers for that recently, thought it was a new film. By the way, should'nt it be called Adventures In Fishing With John The Fisherman? (Seeing as Tommy The Cat is involved, hehheh).

Posted - 10/30/2005 : 14:53:31 I never say pre-swordfishtrombones, because to me, all the really good stuff started in heartattack and vine. Listen closely, you'll get what I'm on about.
I still think the early stuff is good as well but I do tend to skip some of the songs on those albums.
I remember the first time I was in the SU at college during the day. I was playing pool (and winning) and the girl serving tea played Closing Time 3 times in a row, that was a good day.
Oh yeah, I've got the book, I love it. Especially the interview by Jim Jarmusch. |

Posted - 03/28/2005 : 07:11:31 His new one "Real Gone" is really good- very noisy. Blood Money is great too. "Nighthawks at the Diner" is the only one of his pre-Swordfishtrombones albums that I can really bare to listen to. I think he says he finds it hard to listen to a lot of his early stuff himself, and that when he met his wife Kathleen she totally changed his outlook on music. |

Posted - 03/27/2005 : 16:16:47 I like early Waits, although I don't know it that well. I've only really heard The Heart of Saturday Night, from his earlier works. They were playing some early Waits yesterday when I was hanging around the Princeon Record Exchange.

Posted - 03/21/2005 : 18:47:03 The book is going to be out on the 15th, so we won't have a long time to wait. I wasn't really aware that Chuck was a big Waits fan (I assume he is, seeing as how he is writing the forward). All I knew was that he went on the record saying that he thought it'd be cool to have Waits record the come-back album. I've always meant to learn more about Waits. I've got a couple of his albums, and he seems like the type who would have a somewhat interesting story.
