This two-disc set from frank black francis is timely considering the Pixies reunion is one of the hottest acts of the year. Disc one features the very first solo demos of songs destined for Come on Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa. Disc two will raise a few eyebrows. Last year FBF went into the studio with Andy Diagram and Keith Moline and drastically altered old Pixies material. Some may feel that this is akin to sacrilegious defamation, but there is merit here: many tracks take on a whole different personality.
