Posted - 05/07/2010 : 12:02:13 I recently moved to Pto. Vallarta. I desperately miss live music down here, and especially my hero, Frank. I wonder does anyone know if he ever toured Mexico? Or will he?

Posted - 08/02/2010 : 16:05:29 Hey baja. Turns out we're not going to Vallarta eventually. We're going to Acapulco cause a friend of ours is lending us his condo. Would've loved to meet and have a beer. Are Pixies really going to Mexico? That's really cool. I hope you make it. Guadalajara is quite close to PV.

Posted - 07/05/2010 : 14:03:30 I just learned that Pixies will play Guadalajara in October. I should still be nearby, so I'll make an effort to get over there. Man, would it be cool if Frank would do a solo thing in some bar down here. I guess everyone says that. |

Posted - 05/13/2010 : 11:18:02 Ahh yeah, man. That's what it's all about. That music gets proportionately better with the amount of tequila you imbibe. Look me up via PM when you get down here. We'll get a cerveza!

Posted - 05/11/2010 : 21:53:14 Ha! To be honest, I like shitty polka sounding Norteņa. I have some fond memories of a day we spent in Mazatlan at the beach (Isla de la Piedra), with a norteņa band playing. These guys

Posted - 05/11/2010 : 11:57:46 Whiskeyshoes: I'm really sorry about that, and you probably don't have to worry about it. FB has no reason to come here. Mexicans are really xenophobic when it comes to music. I've played it for a few Mexican friends and they always do the same thing: Nod politely and go back to the shitty polka sounding Nortena they love so much. And if I see your wife down here, I'll tell her to piss off for you.
Denis: Yeah I've always wondered about his connection to Mexico. I think his [earlier] music shows an amazing insight into gringos traveling down here. About me sailing. I got lucky. Saved and got laid off with a severance. Doing this has been my dream since I was a kid.

Posted - 05/11/2010 : 08:48:38 How ironic....i am a huge FB fan and my wife just left me after 23 yrs of marriage to chase her mexican lover. she is living in PV now...i hope FB never goes there.. |

Posted - 05/10/2010 : 21:10:55 Thanks. As I said there's nothing planned but we'll probably be driving. I was thinking about going from the DF to Ixtapa and then driving up the coast to Vallarta.
So, to be clear, you live in Vallarta and your job is to sail along the Pacific shore? Man, that must be truly horrible.

Sorry to derail your thread by the way. Frank played Tijuana in July '93 and that's about it. I always wondered if he had some bad experience in Mexico or something, since he always talks bad about it in his songs.

Posted - 05/10/2010 : 13:43:59 Denis,
You'll have a great trip. Aug will be hot and the middle of rainy season which means the rain pours in the afternoon for 15 or so minutes (long enough for a nap) and then it stops. I am sailing and I've only been here 6 months. I like Tenacatita bay, Careys and Barra Navidad the best so far. I haven't made it down to Maruata yet. But I will.
Are you driving? |

Posted - 05/09/2010 : 11:06:49 I'm considering going to Vallarta in August (I'm going to Mexico but haven't planned anything yet). Have you seen the coast between Vallarta and Ixtapa? Any places you'd recommend? I've heard good things about Maruata. If you got any tips...
