Your friend Joe looks uncannily like British comedian Ben Elton!

The waxworks were an immensely eloquent dissertation on the wonderful ordinariness of mankind. |

Posted - 07/20/2009 : 08:36:03 I thought the show was great. Charles always impresses but I wasn't sure how Violet would do live. Thankfully, I was blown away. She sounded great & her stage banter was very entertaining. "Threshold Apprehension" was a nice surprise since I was only expecting to hear Grand Duchy songs.
The Bunnies... ummm... yeah. I love unmelodic crazy art rock but that was a bit much for me, plus they were way too loud. I liked the first band though. The guitarist had a real unique style, I couldn't take my eyes off his fretboard. And the drummer was really working the set... really solid stuff.
Maxwell's is great. I usually catch shows in Philly so I hadn't been there in years. Sorry I didn't meet any of you but hopefully next time. |

Posted - 07/19/2009 : 09:40:29 Sounds good; hope to see them in Europe sometime! Good idea to put 'Threshold Apprehension' in the set too... especially now there's synth to back it up! |

Come on Over to My House A Strange Day Ma Carrefour Lovesick Threshold Apprehension Seeing Stars Ermisinde Long Song Fort Wayne Break the Angels Black Suit Volcano
Great to meet a few forumers. Second band was Bunnies (formerly the Bennies). The GD set was a lot of fun with a few dick jokes thrown in for good measure. The band, as could be expected, were a treat both on and off stage.

Posted - 07/18/2009 : 06:05:53 Fun Show! Maxwell's is such a cool little joint. Grand Duchy was better than expected. Charles is awesome. No, really, he rules! Violet leads the band though. What can I say they have great chemistry. The opening band, The Unkindness Of Ravens were very good. Bought their album. The second band (can't remember their name) were definitely oddballs. Cheers B
