My Velouria
Posted - 07/17/2007 : 11:04:19 This was my second concert of FB this year after the show in Lille... The show was good but was a little disapointing on some points...
The good things : - It was very sunny and Frank had good reason to keep his sunglasses during all the show - The setlist : Frank started with Los Angeles and Ten Percenter...He played the same Bluefinger tracks as usual (Tight Black Rubber was gorgeous!)...in wrong order : Los Angeles Ten Percenter Thalassocracy Massif Centrale (aborted first because the drummer sent a "beach fish" to the crowd and Frank could not support that...He aborded the intro until the fish disappeared and started an other song...he anyway played it later) Manitoba (the last song) Remake Remodel Dead Man's curve FatboySlim cover (he was laying on the drums...) Captain Pasty, Lolita, You can't have a heart..., Tight Black Rubber, Threshold Apprehension - Frank seemed so much comfortable than during the Lille show...he was not anymore like "He, whee's my guitar? where do I have to put my hands?...
The disappointing things : - Frank has great songs, great chord progressions BUT almost all the songs were covered by his voice, I should say by his screams ! On Threshold Apprehension for example, even Tight Black Rubber, Frank really screamed a lot and to me it messed up a little bit the songs... - Frank nervous because of this "fucking" fish as he said - I could not imagine in the past Frank would spend a show by singing on his knees or laying on the ground...This is simply not Frank, he is not this kind of showman...
Basically, good show but I really hope he will play guitar on his next tour and he will stop putting too much emphasis on screams...

Or perhaps we're too old? ("when the music's too loud it's 'cause you're too old...")
