When we talked with Eric he mentioned there were no Pixies songs in the setlist this time around, so I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised to not see any crop up. It's not like there haven't been enough Pixies already, with the actual band- I suppose it would be kind of weird to be playing those same songs with a differnt band while the Pixies are together. And maybe it isn't to the tastes of Duane Jarvis or Billy Block, I don't know.

That's a much more predictable setlist for him touring on FMRM, wouldn't you say? Like when he toured with The Catholics, there's a bunch of stuff from the latest releases plus some nuggets from the old stuff.

Despite the press release concerning the tour and early reports to the contrary, Frank has steadfastly decided not to play any Pixies material with this unit, although it appears that those songs may still crop up in his one-man shows.

Thanks Brian. Not that I am not, but my wife's a major league fan, worlds beyond me. She was pretty stumped on that song having not heard it. She thought he missed lyrics here and there to some songs. The arrangements on the older material were different; a bit more countrified is a good way to describe it, in line with his last two releases. I was curious to see if Steve Ferrone would play with them or not (drummer for The Heartbreakers who played on FMRM) but did not. I thought they were in great form doing about a 55 minute set which was alot longer than I thought they'd do as an opening act. I was pretty psyched to see that it was he & the band and not Frank solo. Correct me if I'm wrong but this was only their 2nd outing as a band (the previous night being the 1st). It was interesting, NOONE sitting around us knew who he was and when we mentioned The Pixies everyone went "OOOHHH!!!!" like they knew, but they all had it quite off. I am really surprised at his undergroundedness. He's such a stellar singer/songwriter and geez, The Pixies! Come on! :)

Given the location I'll cross my fingers that some member of the Bay Area taper crew caught this properly. Stay tuned...

almost sounds like he was in a bad mood when he made up the set list-

a horrible day, burned, blue, & suffering; starved, beaten, & nailed to the door ( In Pittsburg ).

this is kind of a lame post, but I'm trying to bring up my count ( that s. wrenn kid has about 200 more posts than me & he's only been on the forum less than a year ).
