Posted - 08/15/2006 : 20:38:46 I've noticed Frank is playing quite a few Pixies songs on this tour, including crowd pleasers like "Where Is My Mind?" and "Wave of Mutilation."
When I saw Frank in Denver on the Cult of Ray tour, I would have given anything to hear just a single Pixies song. I stood in the front row and, between a couple songs, I handed Frank a card that said "Where Is My Mind?" on it. He barked at me, "Can't you see I'm working here?" It seemed there was no way he was going to sing Pixies material on his own.
Now fast-forward a decade. The Pixies have reunited, I've seen them twice, and I feel just the opposite about Frank doing Pixies songs at his own shows. He's got a fantastic catalog of his own material, including stuff none of us has heard yet, and I'd much rather hear Frank Black songs than Pixies.
Give me more "Billy Radcliffe," "Don't Cry That Way," even "Rabbit Song." And if it's a decision between "Monkey Gone to Heaven" and something brand new that he's still trying to work out, I'd rather have the new one. Pretty please, Frank?

hrhr. it takes epcot-centre-sized balls to admit that request. I agree completely, and have no desire to hear any Pixies stuff (though I wouldn't complain if I heard velouria) when I see in this time round. I have been waiting for 2 years for a convenient chance to see The Man solo! |
