I remember getting this Frank Black CD that had a live concert from Paris (like 10 years ago). The case was black, the CD was black. But it skipped and I got mad and sold it. I think I made a mistake. I think it was rare.

hwolsky -"I was so young... The mix of this french version was quite good, even better than the Uk release, though the tracks were not 'cut' in the proper moments..."

The two versions have different mixes?

Shazeb,
I found one at Blockbuster Music back in '96, and it had some weird residue all over it and skipped so badly that you couldn't hear a note.
Don't know what that was all about. Kept me from buying a rarity.

Ebay

Sorry, but there's really no other place besides a used record store, if you can ever find it at one.

You could also try other online stores like www.gemm.com Amazon might have a few used copies.

I would be careful when you get it to be sure to get the one with the kitchen tapes bonus tracks, as you'll probably not want to spend $30 on it and not have those. I own the vinyl version and highly reccomend it. I got mine for $25 on ebay about a year or two ago.

For fuck's sake! I just realized yesterday I could not find the black box anymore! STOP with your Karma stuff, you freakin' doomed boys!

perhaps that is the kharma of that particular
recording, to be lost or stolen.

Here's another incident to add to what I'm sure is just the tip of the iceberg. I bought the Black album at Tower Records about 4-5 years ago, paid about $25 for it. I kept it at the office and listened to it on my computer. I went to put it on one day, but when I opened the case it was gone. I figured someone in the office cleaning crew saw it, and either thought it was a Black Sabbath CD (I really don't think they took it because it was Frank Black, but perhaps I'm not giving them enough credit), or saw it on Amazon.com and believed they could sell it for the ridiculous price listed there.

Coincidence or Karma? I'll go with Karma.

Yea...it was The Black Sessions (black box version)...I had the blue version but lost it when my house got robbed in '99(along with all the eps from COR and the brown album, as well as 5 pixies bootlegged live albums)....OUCH...still hurts. So I got a friend of mine who spent the summer in France to comb around for Black Sessions.....she found the Black one (for about 10$ US)....but I really miss the 'Kitchen Tapes' that came with the UK blue one.

My, it was my first frank Black CD.... I remeber Two spaces opening the gig... The fantastic versions of men in Black and Freedom Rock... and Handy Man.

I was so young... The mix of this french version was quite good, even better than the Uk release, though the tracks were not 'cut' in the proper moments...
