I have seen the man with his Catholics three times and with his Pixies once. Though the Pixies were my very first "favorite band," and they played an astonishing show (I saw them during the reunion tour in Columbus, OH) I would say that I had a deeper appreciation for the three consecutive Catholics shows I attended. Especially the one in Pittsburgh, PA. The small venue and extended set gave me quite a thrill. It was by far my favorite show I have seen to date. I anxiously await another FB&TC show as well!

I've heard a lot of noise, so I'm going to the stereo store, to get a white noise maker and turn it up to ten.

Hopefully we might get a couple of small spinoffs during the Pixies tour. Wouldn't mind a TBMC or Vicar St again! (Nancy Spains in Cork would be worth queuing for aswell!!).

He said he really regreted that in an interview. He's not an agressive guy, he just wants peace!

good memory Spartacus! yes frank did break a string while strumming along to billy radcliffe. it was quite amusing as i recall. and frank's got such a good sense of humour in such potentially difficult situations. hard to imagine that one time he actually kicked a guitar at kim on stage in his early pixie days. she must have really got his goat that day...

re: frank tour... (very roughly transcribed because it can't be rewinded) interview with andrew collins

AC: album released on july 18th, presumably you'll be back then to play some gigs or there-abouts

FB: Erm, I'm tyring to, you know, organise a tour with those honeycomb guys

AC: yeah

FB: but they're hard to nail down

AC: Yeah, I bet, they're busy men

FB: Yeah, so, But I'm trying though.. sending e mails and making phonecalls, so hopefully yes.. because they're really superb players

To be honest though i have never seen Frank or Pixies live. Though Frank cancelled a tour in australia in 2003! ahh!! I would prefer to see Frank live than Pixies. Mainly based on how a Frank tour would consist of very bizarre varied setlists from his catalogue, whereas it seems a Pixies tour is likely to consist of songs from the bootlegs ive already heard about a 100 times already which he played in 04.

i seem to remember frank did this live broadcast internet interview around 96. i think he played an acoustic version of billy radcliffe and took online questions. it was extremely cool. i didn't have a computer at the time so i went to my bro's place to catch it. i think that may have been my first internet experience and proud to say it wasn't porn.

True BF, maybe that would only work as a pay-per-view on the labels' site, or something like that. And it would have to be presented to him as such for him to even think about doing it.
I'd certainly pony up some dough if FB ever did.

i think its a lot to ask the man to do. he already graces us with his presence and is quite supportive of this website. the reality of the situation is that he doesn't owe us anything, despite what sometimes is suggested on this board, and asking him to perform a free, live concert for us seems to be greedy. would i love it? yes. is it likely? probably not. would i feel right asking for it? no.

i guess i just respect the man and his privacy too much.

This is sounds like something worth looking into. FB could even do this from home.

I'm pulling for the honeycomb tour, please Frank!~
kathryn Posted - 03/22/2005 : 13:09:16
I hope you are right, Carl. It's been said before on the forum
that Honeycomb's twangy sound is something the Catholics
could do, did do a bit in SMYT, etc.

Well, seeing as his new album is a true 'solo' effort, that might not be for a while...although, if he toured the album, I'm sure he'd bring some/all of the Catholics along for the ride!!
kathryn Posted - 03/22/2005 : 12:15:51
Or a chat? Or a clue as to when he's taking the mighty
Catholics back on the road?

I want to see Frank solo too . Maybe we'll all get that chance some day!!
Surfer Rosa Posted - 03/19/2005 : 08:22:45
As FB & the Catholics they always play the Leeds Cockpit on their UK tours - a fantastic small venue. I'd rather have the intimacy of him with the Catholics than in a massive venue or at a festival with the Pixies (not that I wouldn't be there in a heartbeat).

The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it.
kathryn Posted - 03/19/2005 : 07:47:49
Solo or with the Catholics!

All we can do is guess right now. Confirmed Pixies summer dates are starting
to come in. Whether he'll soon do shows solo or Catholics remains to be seen.
Maybe he believes there is more money to be made in Pixies vs. solo or
FB+TheCs? It's understandable that as a new dad, he wouldn't want to tour too
much and would only want to do shows that brought in the big bucks. But
perhaps the Pixies reunion would attract more people to solo or Catholics
gigs?

I want what is best for Frank and his family; but I also want to see
my beloved FB+TheCs!
