I hope you all get to see the Pixies. It was great loosing my Pixies virginity. But I know how it feels like it took me over 14 years to loose mine, so I know how hard the wait is. It was worth the wait .

Greek Theatre LA 9/22/04 was my first Pixies show. It was just okay, I was way in the back and the sound/vibe sucked. Both shows lots of trendy neo-yuppy types who probably went to impress their friends and just chatter the whole time.
Actually I bought an advance ticket for the 2nd show when I pulled up Sec A row Q on TM. Kinda wanted to see THe Thrills. Turns out a co-worker has a night job as an usher. However, he couldnt get me a ticket for the first show. I went to The Thrills instore (ho hum) then headed to the Greek to check the scene out anyway (had an MTA day pass and its on the way home). Turns out there are people with stacks of tickets everywhere, and someone offered to sell me one for $20 then 10 right off the bat. My rule of thumb is to (almost) never take the first ticket offered whether in the parking lot or on TM. 5 minutes later offered the same person $5 and I was in (not that I am a cheap bastard, just a poor bastard who has just gone to 7 gigs in 5 days!)
Anyway the sound wasnt loud enough, a huge percentage of the people werent into it, it was just kinda...lame. Music and band were great though.
It was my first time seeing the Pixies although I saw Frank Black open for the Ramones twice, then saw the Breeders 10 times and even accidentally stumbled into a Martini's gig when a friend of mine wanted to go for a drink at Jacks Sugar Shack where he knew the doorman. He bailed 5 minutes later but I stayed. Dont remember much since I had been getting trashed all day but I remembered liking them.
Anyway enough rambling, I may or may not go to the Irvine show depending on whether or not I can squeeze it into my budget.

Yeah... Pixies' return is just a 50% of happiness the other 50% is to finally watch them live. :(
