Posted - 09/24/2004 : 01:38:42 Man!!! That show rocked!!! Made me feel like I was 17 again!
We were in the pit and it was AWESOME!!!
Kim was so cute...she had this cute, sheepish smile the whole time and just slowly rocked side to side while she played. But man, when she wasn't all shy and cute, she was a BADASS!!! Guitar in one hand, cigarette on her lip...woo-hoo!!!
And Francis, he rocked like he hated that bitch! (not Kim). He was really easygoing, but turned it on for the songs. Joey had this awesome solo...Dave threw him his drumstick and Joey set his guitar on the floor, and used the stick to slide on the strings to create some awesome noise and feedback (w/ the help of some effects pedals). It was just really fun, great vibes, and a night I will never forget.
Yeah, the crowd was kinda dead...about 1/2 the people in the pit weren't even dancing. I guess that's because we're all old now. |

I posted in wrong area before...ooops
I was in Section B, row A (just to the right)...spectacular seats! But in response to a post a few lines up, they did not play Is She Weird.
Read my link above about the Bam Thwok experience 9/22/04.
Wait...maybe you are talking about 9/23/04 gig for Is She Weird? Maybe I'm wrong.

That goes without saying. There's nothing to match the excitement and mystique of the Pomona show. That was like having the Pixies play in your garage! |

Posted - 09/24/2004 : 08:15:02 Yes, they played 'Bam Thwok'. The only track that really surprised me was 'Is She Weird'. I thought the set was very good. The band seems tighter than back in April but not as excited. |

Posted - 09/24/2004 : 02:12:41 I was there man, I just got home. They were amazing, but I you won't believe what happened to me after the show. I was walking out with my new Pixies Sellout shirt and, not watching where I was going, I bumped into this guy on my way out. I was going to tell the guy watch it even though it was my fault, until I realized that person was Joey Santiago!! I don't think he realized what happened, he was on his way to the backstage party. I froze, I was so star struck. I couldn't believe Joey was in arms length from me. I think he might of got weirded out by me because I was just staring, but I couldn't move. I looked around from my girlfriend to see if she saw him too, make sure I wasn't seeing things. Before I gathered my courage, he walked off. On my way out he comes back and this time he's right next to me, and I still couldn't say anything, some fan called him back and they were chatting and I didn't want to interupt.
I FUCKED UP MY CHANCE TO MEET JOEY SANTIAGO!!! Oh by the way, where were you seating? I guess you were in the pit. I was in like the uppper terrace on the right side of the stage. The people there were all sitting. I'm like stand people, but they stayed sitting. It wasn't until the Pixies finished their first set that they finally stood, I was already standing by then. I was dancing man, I was dancing. Probably because I'm still a young man, I'm only 20. How good was Bam Thwok by the way. Second time I saw that song live, felt good. Anyway, just thought I'd bitch about blowing the opportunity to meet one of my biggest heros in Rock music. Night...
