I have to be honest, I agree. It seemed nobody in my area was more excited to see than Pixies than I was. But the tour has lost its energy by now, for me and for most other people. There's nothing fresh about it, seeing that every show is the same; from the same exact songs to the same stage theatrics every night. It's a great opportunity for those fans that have been dying to see them, but I think most fans have pretty well had their opportunity by now. The pixies are playing too many shows it seems, and giving no incentive to come back, unless you want to see a carbon copy of the last show. I went to the show at the greek on Friday and enjoyed it for what it was worth, but I honestly wouldn't have bothered if I'd been able to get rid of my tickets for anywhere near what I paid for them. It's still entertainment from one of my all time favorite bands, and having gone in with low expectations made the evening enjoyable, because the routine was smooth and the sound quality was good (unlike when I saw them on the warm-up tour). Still, it was sad and disheartening to see mobs of people outside the venue trying to sell their tickets for an average of $10, and many just trying to give them away.
So I hope you were able to sell your ticket floop, but judging from the flood of available tickets on craigslist and ebay, I'm assuming you had to eat the cost.
-looking forward to the fb shows again, where I can get some variety with my ticket cost (and mind you, I'm a much bigger fan of the pixies than fb solo).

Posted - 09/21/2004 : 16:24:38 I hear you man. I'm really not too excited about the Greek show on Thursday. I'm pretty burned out on the Pixies. You and I know there ain't no way it can top Pomona, but I've got to keep the wife happy. |
