I see these Brixton 2004 DVD's on sale on EBay. Do these play in the US? They all seem to be for sale from UK sellers. How is the quality of these DVD's? Is it from a single camera? |

great to hear that the Eurocks DVD is this good - cannae wait to get my copy from the fabulous Mr Chapman.

Yeah man. Check out Dave Chapman's incredible offering at EasyTree.org. It includes a complete pro-shot French performance (90+ Minutes) in almost perfect hi-res DVD quality, plus parts of two other European performances from July--one of which is superior quality-wise to the French show. It really is amazing. I had recently grabbed the 1991 Brixton show from the same place. A nice historical document, but terrible quality. But after finally completing the almost 4 GB download of the gorgeous disc authored by Mr. Chapman, I was completely floored by the visual quality. It's about 1.85:1 aspect ratio widescreen, and picks up every bead of sweat from FB's eyeliner'd face.
Granted, it is in the PAL format, unusable by most standalone players in the US. I have a standalone (Lite-On LVD-2002) that can play it fine, so I have been able to enjoy it immensely already. However, I am also reauthoring it in NTSC, mostly so I can play it on other players, but also for the public good, perhaps. The only concern I have is with the menus, which will look like kindergarten crap next to Mr. Chapman's sexy work. Anyway, since it is still really well seeded as of now (9/21), you could download it quite quickly via a broadband connection. I don't know when my NTSC one will show up on EasyTree, but with a few hours' research, you could figure out how to do it yourself.
I wouldn't be surprised to find a good Samaritan in the trading community who might seed the new Brixton show anyway. Don't pay for it though, if you can help it. Basically Dave C, or I, or any other of the hundreds or so who now have the far superior "pixies2004-07-03-Eurocks-PALDVD" could choose to begin burning copies by the dozens and selling them on eBay for lots of dough. The point is, we won't, and as it gets circulated properly, the market will eventually trickle out (hopefully). Same should go for this 2004 Brixton disc, right?

im in the u.s. i have it and it doesnt play on my dvd player because my dvd player only plays dvd+r and the dvd is a dvd-r but it plays on my friends dvd player cause hers plays -r |

the dvd's will play if they're made in NTSC format.
i'm not sure whether they're available as that or not.
UK uses PAL which is not compatible.
but from hearing what others have to say, the brixton ones are pretty poor.
one camera right down the front so lotsa jolting and hiding from security.
The forum one is much better apparently.
but don't buy them, i'm sure someone will be able to offer you a trade or B+P...i would if i could burn dvd's.
