Not sure if that is a joke or not, but yeah, it seems they have actually. Or at least Perry has been kicked out and the others have started a new band with some chump singer. |

Posted - 06/24/2004 : 15:36:01 Josh, sorry to break it to you, but that is somewhat incorrect.
Lollapalooza last year was indeed scheduled for Minneapolis, but the plans (and if you don't want to believe me on this, fine), were to have the main stage be inside the Target Center (this was what the venue was listed as all along, for the Minneapolis show), and the second stage would be across the street, at First Avenue (inside), and if they need any other smaller stage, that would be at the Entry.
The reason it was cancelled, was logistics. |

Posted - 06/24/2004 : 14:14:37 They had problems with the All-fucked-up-apalooza in Minneapolis last year before they even cancelled it. They wanted to put it downtown on 1st avenue and 4th street (right next to the Target Center) OUTSIDE. I saw the plans they made for it and it was all F-ed up. I like Perry Ferrel but I think the decade long heroin addiction finally caught up with his ability to form quality ideas.

It was Janes, Pixies, Nirvana, Ministry....it was part of the scene.
Early nineties.
Janes was a beautiful thing. I saw palooza 91 at Blossom in Akron. When Janes finally took the stage at like 11pm, the place fucking levitated.

Ha I found it!! Ticket Master is fucking with us!! Go here http://www.pixiesmusic.com/live_04.php and go to Sept. 21, that's when The Pixies play in San Diego. If you check Ticketmaster.com they don't have it listed, but click on the buy tickets link at pixiesmusic.com and it takes you to ticketmaster.com. So they have them and they don't have them. The fuckers went on sale June 4th!! I got mine already. So hurry and get your's before the jocks get there.

Posted - 06/23/2004 : 15:15:51 "HomerPalooza" was the episode name, "Hullabalooza" was the festival name. And yes, he met the Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, and Peter Frampton while working as a sideshow carny! |

Posted - 06/23/2004 : 14:30:59 I thought it was "Homerpalooza"? And that he met Billy Corgan and Sonic Youth and stuff?

Posted - 06/23/2004 : 14:20:24 Whats the difference between Perry Farrell and associates milking Lollapalooza and the profit-motivated hippie-turned-yuppy assholes that organized the reincarnation of woodstock?
Perry Farrell is much flakier. |

Well, I say thank god, I mean half the dates were slated to take place on WEEKDAYS, also the second day lineup changed about 5 times in 1 month, and finally a good majority of the acts were exclusive to a few stops. I am so tired of Farrell and the Lollapalooza Re-Invention, I wish he would just go away. Re-Invention belongs to only one star this summer and I am sure you may all know who that is (if you don't it's Madonna) with this summer's highest grossing tour in $$$ as well as attendance, and that is with tickets going for $45-$300 a piece! I think the idea of Lollapalooza past 1996 was played out and should have been laid to rest(ahem insert comment about the Simpsons parody "Hullabalooza"). The concept of a major tour(as Lolla continued on in 1997) is a great idea but some core ideas have their time in the sun and Lolla had that up until '96, then they should have come up with a new name at least.
But for those who are gonna miss the Ventura Date for the Pixies, consider going out to Denver, the airfare is pretty cheap from CA and I have great seats at Magness Arena for sale (Thursday Sept 30th Magness Arena Denver Co Sect Lower 2 Row 4 seats 17-20 for face value!!!) supercargo78@yahoo.com

The key line in the article:
"Mr. Geiger said ticket sales had been uneven around the country, with relatively strong sales for the Aug. 16 and 17 concerts at Randalls Island in New York, where the Pixies were to make one of their only two appearances on the tour."
I think it's obvious who the draw was on this tour... I say good riddance to Lollapalooza and bring the Pixies on to NYC in December as headliners. At Radio City Music Hall maybe? The Beacon? hmmmmm

Good! Maybe now the Pixies will play a proper gig in southern California, rather than some freakin' festival...how about Universal Amphitheater..not too small..not too big.

Posted - 06/22/2004 : 12:25:59 I don't understand why they would cancel it this far ahead of the first show. I mean, don't most festival-goers buy their tickets the day of the show because festivals like this hardly ever sell out? It seems like they should have at least waited until after the first show to cancel the tour just to see if ticket sales would dramatically increase on the day of the show, which I believe they would. This really blows, anyhow! I wasn't going to one of the Pixies shows, but I was especially looking forward to seeing Sonic Youth, whom I've never seen live.
