From today's Boston Globe:

GIGANTIC Yes, the Pixies have recorded a new song -- "Bam Thwok" -- but it's too soon to say if the seminal Boston band, now on tour in Europe, will write any more. "I'm being partially honest with you -- I don't know," said the band's manager Ken Goes. Asked what "Bam Thwok," written by bassist Kim Deal, means, Goes said he has no idea. "Sounds like a Thai restaurant to me." Goes did confirm that Black Francis et al. will conclude their world tour with several shows in Boston in December, though he wouldn't say where. Since the band's avoiding Clear Channel-owned venues, it almost certainly won't be the Orpheum. "They just got a little heavy-handed with us," Goes said, declining to elaborate.

The fine line was THE ONLY Clear Channel venue on the warm-up tour.

What do they mean, 'avoiding Clear Channel venues'? Most of the warm up tour was at CC venues. The Fine Line, for example, is a CC venue.

And the heavy handed comment makes it sound like it wasn't a pleasant working relationship. Maybe the friction was about DiscLive.

i think that it means they will avoid cc venues if they can.
that may be tough in Boston, unless they try the Fleet Center(awful).

it may have something to do w/ the pressure that cc puts on bands that use their venues.
some cases via. cc's promotion comp. and radio stations. ex-Britney Speirs(sp)
specifically in regards to the Ps probably something to do w/ Disclive and the warm up tour.

it is good hear that they are avoiding cc venues, if it is true.
that being said if the Ps end up playing one of the larger clubs in Boston, which are not that big, their will be a ton of fans shut out of those shows.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE PIXIES AT THE PARADISE ROCK CLUB

It should be at the Paradise or the Avalon. A CLUB SETTING would be best.
