Posted - 06/14/2004 : 05:28:31 Hi Barry,
Met up with Bazza - pity we could find you. Phonecalls inside were impossible. Good buzz though, crap beer queuing, crap merch and crap walk back to the busses.
Couldn't get a pit pass for Pixies, but got one for the Chilis - cruel irony. Mind you got both the kids within 3 feet of the stage - so that will get me browny points when they are teenagers! 'Da your such a bleedin square', 'Ah but can you remember when I took you in the mosh pit at the Chilis?' etc, etc!
I took a strole round Temple Bar yesterday hoping to bump into Frank or Joey - thought they might have stayed at Bonos Gaff. Almost expected Dave Lovering to be on Grafton St doing magic tricks, (or exploding pickles - as Bazza puts it).
U-Mass is still buzzing in my head - good to hear something off TLM.

Posted - 06/14/2004 : 05:25:44 Lot of people singing along. They played 'Dead' after 'No.13 Baby', actually. Or, at least, that's what I heard walking up towards through the park(I was nervous-breakdown-inducingly late!)No sign of 'Bam Twock'? |

Posted - 06/14/2004 : 04:40:52 A friend of mine who is not a Pixies fan even admitted he was impressed. Said he never seem a band play so relentlessly. He said it was they were like a DJ, one track rolling into another!

Posted - 06/13/2004 : 16:07:30 I’m still a little shell-shocked and hungover by the whole thing. Most people around me seemed to be surprised by my friend’s and mines behaviour, as we sang along to all the songs and jumped around like mad men, but we sadly couldn’t get any closer. The band seemed genuinely surprised by the crowd’s admiration, which was great. It was an excellent night, I just hope they come back for another gig!
Cheers for the picture spent.

Posted - 06/13/2004 : 15:11:22 Here's the one picture my friend took from yesterday. http://www.deviantart.com/view/8073112/
I have some I took with my camera phone, but they're not very good. I also recorded some tracks with the phone, but the quality on them isn't very good at all either. I'll post them later maybe.
Excellent day. That studio track may mean a studio album some time in the future, which will probably mean they'll tour again, so yey.
RHCP were OK I guess.. they didn't play anything that wasn't hugely popular other than My Lovely Man, which nobody in the crowd knew, sadly. |

Posted - 06/13/2004 : 13:27:20 It was great when Joey put down his gutair for the Vamos feedback solo and walked around it like it was a member of the band doing its own thing. Amazing gig, great sound and tight playing, (cancels out the terrilble facilites, assholes and sheer suficating volume of people), I was'nt that near the front but everyboby was still dancing up and down and singing along and loving it! I loved their co-ordinated white shirt look and now Dave has the same hair cut as Frank and Joey! Joey totally stole my look, I have the same glasses as him and a shaved head .

Posted - 06/13/2004 : 11:38:00 Amazing gig, sound was superb, band seemed in great spirits and the crowd really showed their love for the band and the tunes. Feel very sorry for RHCP, although they were surprisingly good everyone seemed worn out after the Pixies(asides from the RCHP uber-fans). Hopefully i'll have some good photo's to upload, i'll see them tomorrow. Loved the fact they played U-mass and Velouria, and the crowd responded to these just as much as HCYM and monkey.I don't think anyone who likes the Pixies could come away disappointed. Oh and if there was people who wanted in band banter and chat to the crowd they got that too. I hope i see them again but if that is my last Pixies gig, there is no regret , they were truly devastating in Dublin. |

Posted - 06/13/2004 : 05:20:26 yeah, they blew them away alright... lot of assholes at the gig though, but i have to say when the pixies started the crowd round me really seem to know the songs - the real popular ones like 'where is' and 'here comes' in particular of course... its hard to know what the crowd who never heard of them before thought of them.. cos when the chili peppers came on it was just like backround noise to me and i left before their encore to avoid the crowds |
