Posted - 05/24/2004 : 02:08:47 is it just my copy of the saskatoon show or does everyones cd have pops between the tracks? i've only receieved this 1 show so far so i can't compare it to my others, but it's damn annoying. if i hadn't paid a shitload of money for it, it wouldn't bother me so much, but i expect better than this for my dosh.

Posted - 06/03/2004 : 09:49:30 Having received my original DiscLive copy, I've had a chance to check on the "pops" some people are complaining about. They're not really pops, but each track has a micro-second gap near or at the end (around 100th of a second). These _shouldn't_ cause any pop or click on a decent cd player, as they're basically "silence" and far too short to even hear, but some systems are obviously making a pop sound when they encounter these.
I'm not sure why they're there, but I would assume that during the concert they have to save their files at the end of every track so that they can begin mastering them immediately. With the Brixton shows, they don't have to master the tracks on the fly as they're not selling them immediately after the show, so it'll be interesting to see if these gaps are still gonna be on those CDs when they arrive.
I'm pretty happy with the purchase though, it's a nice souvenir of a concert i couldn't get to (being 10000 miles away). And those pops/gaps are easy enough to fix. Rip your CD to WAV's, edit them in a wave editor to remove the gaps, and rewrite to a blank cd of your choice! Then put the original away in a safe place :)

Posted - 06/03/2004 : 06:11:57 I have just done the netburn of Brixton gig - annoying 2 second hole between all tracks which will not be on the official CDs. I guess the clicks you lot are hearing are these bits edited out, or are digital track delimiters. (Woah - everyone is singing Here Comes Your Man.) I have the Edmonton show on CD and I haven't heard the clicks on that one. |

Unfortunately they're CD-Rs - but perhaps they will work in your stereo, as they do work in my mini-hifi which also rejects most other CD-Rs.. good luck! |

yeah, my discman has never played pops on live cd's before, so i don't think it can be the machine. and it's on about 90% of the transitions too.
when i get home i'll try it on my other, much older discman and on my flatties crappy stereo and 'puter, just to test it.

I played my Minneapolis CD in a discman and during where is mind it skipped like crazy! I couldn't even fast forward it. But then I played it in my Yamaha CD burner and it played fine. Also I burnt a copy for my car and it doesn't skip.

Posted - 05/28/2004 : 14:08:32 The best way to check if the clicks you are hearing are actually on the CD, is to rip it to WAV using AudioCatalyst, or any WAV ripping program.. You will then visually be able to see if the clicks exist. These are known to happen as artifacts of digital recordings using some software - perhaps your copy was burned from an unedited source.. |

Posted - 05/25/2004 : 00:48:37 scott, this is exactly what i'm hearing....you seem to have articulated it so much more clearly then i did. but yes, on anything with headphones i can hear the pops.
it's damn annoying.

Posted - 05/24/2004 : 22:43:59 There definitely are very short, low volume clicks between tracks on DiscLive shows that one can hear with headphones. I hear them on my Sony DiscMan and on either CD player in my PC. They seem to be related to track markers. It's the same on all four shows (originals) that I've heard. |

Posted - 05/24/2004 : 15:22:56 I know this is the case for video, but not sure it is becasue you are in GB, but do you think it might be a compatibility issue? Otherwise I would try cleaning your cd player... it it is stil there, I would try it on a friends cd player and if that still doesn't work try exchanging it. Good luck. |

Posted - 05/24/2004 : 12:20:36 yeah....i put the show on my computer (iTunes) and then onto the my iPod. unfortunately i hear the pops. when i play it on a CD player, no such pops are heard.
wierd, but not too much of a problem.

hmm, thats realy odd. i know that computers sometimes have pops and little skips between tracks, that stereos sometimes dont have. my disclives are like that. right in the begining on planet of sound on my regina disc, it has an enormous pop on daves bass drum, but in my stereo its not there.
