According to some industry insiders, Lees and West, the promoters of the Big Day Out Festival in Australia, are working hard to get the Pixies out here to headline the festival in January next year. Thus far no contracts have been signed and nothing is confirmed, but there has been some negotiation. Never say never... |

This is a pretty old rumour, not likely to happen I'm afraid, but I do hope you guys get your festival.
There is word on the winds of another Pixies show, but this isn't it...

Well this is really cool for all the fellow fans down under!! Hopefully this or another show at some point would work out because there are so many hardcore fanz in OZ/NZ that have been doing every thing to get them down there. I think I even rember signing a petition from a radio station way back when for that same reason.

i'd be awesome if they did make it to BDO - better include the Auckland show...i'll be back in the NZ then....would give me the only reason to actually attend the horror that is BDO...

-----mmmm pretty sceptical about Pixies Touring for BDO....like New Order were a massive band who toured in 2002 with a NEW ALBUM but they were relegated to 3rd spot on the bill behind PRodigy and Silvechair.
Pixies will prob be like 4th on the bill if they tour. THe chances of getting close with the D Barrier Bullshit (limit the amount of fans up close to minimise crowd crushing) is fuck all.

3rd Annual Australian Frank Black Countdown August 2003 - all involved parties rank EVERY released FB song from FB self/titled to the present - average ranks are calculated - beer (or suitable substitute) is added (mostly in drinking-game form - ie. rate a song well below its average and you drink a punishing amount), then sit back and enjoy a day of frank black....the only problem is quite often memory of the top songs is somewhat limited the next day |
