Posted - 06/03/2004 : 06:55:36 The following has appeared on xfm.co.uk today:
"The support act for last night were the Delays, with David Lovering’s Magic Show (the Pixies drummer is an enthusiastic magician), Graham Coxon and Badly Drawn Boy opening over the next three nights respectively." |

Posted - 06/03/2004 : 05:00:11 Dave Lovering tonight; definitely. The Academy website has it up.
Dammit; tonight's the one night I'm not going. |

Posted - 06/03/2004 : 04:42:05 so who is it tonight?
this is why events unerve me |

Posted - 06/02/2004 : 13:21:56 It must be either Graham Coxon or BDB for Saturday. They're only playing a 3/4 hr set. Pixies are down for 1 and a half hours...I hope they do longer. However, last time I saw Frank Black at the Academy in Manchester he didn't do an encore. A lot of people were pissed off....I thought it was quite cool of him as he did play a long set. Way to go Frank! |

Posted - 06/02/2004 : 10:12:30 Whew, missed out on that one. I'd love David Lovering, that would be wicked.

Posted - 06/02/2004 : 08:30:41 well i contacted the general manager of the Brixton Academy regarding the supports, and at first she said that the tour management is keeping them secret so she couldn't tell me, but then i got another email right after that saying that they are going to be releasing the names of each nights support on the morning of that days gig... and she told me it was the delays tonite.....boo

Posted - 06/02/2004 : 04:28:36 my dream support possibilities
breeders (tiring for kim, but good for us) throwing muses (how great would that be) 50 foot wave (cos tm aren't together at the mo) fb & the catholics (tiring for frank, good for us) rich gilberts band (the velvet swingers?) cos he's fab
never gonna happen!
it is def the delays tonight, says on their website, a lot of people seem to like them, i find them a tad bland

Posted - 06/02/2004 : 03:01:44 Well its definitely Graham Coxon. Friday only. I know the Sean, Keyboard player in the band....(also Beth Orton's).
However I am going tonight and see that the general consensus is the Delays??? Never heard of them but Amazon seems to think I would like them. Their recommended album for me at the moment. |

Posted - 06/02/2004 : 00:39:42 I've been told who the support bands are, but I don't know which are playing which dates.
Lets just say I'm laughing back at some people, ahem. |

Posted - 06/01/2004 : 11:46:41 I saw this on another forum. The source is normally quite reliable.
"Supports are Graham Coxon, The Delays, Badly Drawn Boy and the David Lovering magic show. Not sure in which order."
The Delays are supposed to be Wednesday according to other sources.

Posted - 06/01/2004 : 10:56:12 yeah that is true, but i get damn tired if i have to stand for that long....and it means i get tempted to drink alot of beer, which is never a good idea for the main act.

Posted - 06/01/2004 : 10:52:47 I always try and get there in time to see the support if possible. You never know when you might see a really good, 'next big thing' kinda band.

Posted - 06/01/2004 : 10:47:31 but the thing is is that from what we've all heard, the supports are pretty big in their own right.... personally, if i haven't heard anything by tomorrow, i'll be turning up early...except if it's the delays cause they suck.

Posted - 06/01/2004 : 10:43:09 Thats how the promoters wanted it, apparently. I've had feelers out, but no joy.

indeed, if i was in one of the bands supporting the pixies, i would have been mentioning it on my site, telling NME, just shouting from the roof-tops... then again, it's not as if they'll sell any more tickets (being sold out already)...

Posted - 06/01/2004 : 05:11:07 hi Mishkabunny!
and although BDB is one of our bands (he's on XL), we've not heard anything here about him.. in fact, when I mentioned it, I got laughed at.. eek!
I guess somewhere someone will announce it this week - my money is on NME.com |

Posted - 06/01/2004 : 03:49:08 well i've ruled out the delays (website mentions they're doing 2nd june support), and keane (in america), can find no mention of badly drawn boy doing anything that date, and nothing on graham coxon tour, tho the 4th ain't on there either

ermmm?? have you? I've not heard that one, Leah!! Unless it was one of the other jo's who work at Beggars... I've no idea who is supporting at all.
Ha, words in mouth time. I seem to remember you telling me that the Red Hot Chilli Peppers were supporting one night, the others were, um, Metallica, Britney Spears and Queen. Wasn't that it?

Posted - 05/31/2004 : 10:47:15 Are you telling me I've a ticket to see McLusky and the Pixies on Saturday? If this is true you've made my day.
Now if Ash would only change their minds and let Mogwai open on the 14th of June (I've nothing against Ash but if Mogwai opened my trip would be 100% perfect)

As for the rest I'm gunning for BSP on Friday (thanx for the ticket John C!)
