Well? If you missed the pomona show you can still say you went to all. Which were the best shows?

Why is 'monosyllabic' such a long word?

I went to both Vancouver shows and I think that thursday's show was the best. That could also be because I had been waiting to see them for a long time. The second show was a treat!

I only went to the first nights in Vancouver and Eugene. I've heard people say the second nights were better than the first at both, but those first nights we're the best shows I saw. Especially Vancouver!!

How did Vancouver compare to the non-coastal Canadian shows?

Hey curly_g_bam, glad you made it!

hi guys. i'm finally here on this forum. johnny_4_president and i started in Winnipeg and witnessed a total of 13 shows in a row. Last one was davis. We got every show on the tour t shirt except the first and last dates. The merchandise guy got pretty tired of seeing our faces and the disc live crew started treating us like employees. Are we rich? Hell yeah. Filthy stinking rock star rich...axe anyone. What up marbleslinger. Probably couldn't have made it through canada without you, thanks for the hospitality and all. Tour on! Number 13, baby. What up Astrocat, thanks for remembering we exist. What up everybody, the Panamanian Schooner rides!

like my man Xtian said on tour: "When the pixies announce theyre back together and playin shows, you dont ask questions or think about it, you just go!"

Xtian has it right!! That's exactly what we (my husband and I) said to ourselves when the reunion was announced. We hadn't been on a real vacation in 6 or 7 years so we made this it. And I can't think of a better vacation!! We went to 5 shows, most of the west coast shows. We didn't do it as cheaply as we could have, but it can be done very cheaply. I've done that in the past. (When I was in college I used to save all my change for going to shows. It adds up!) If you want to do it bad enough, you find a way regardless of the money. We are not the poorest people around, but we are a one income household and by no means flush. We put a lot of the trip on credit cards, which we usually never use, and will be paying them off for the next few months. But it was worth it. We had the time of our lives!

I think I can safely say that johnny_4_president and Xtian are not independently wealthy either. Just devoted and motivated!

hell no!!! im broke as a joke, i barely made it to all the canadian shows. I am self employed: http://www.glasspipes.org/Gal151_marbleslingers_Gallery.asp so i just worked my ass off to make as much money as i could, and got a one way plane ticket to winnipeg, and made signs trying to catch a ride to the next show....i have no credit cards or even a drivers license... i met up with johhny_4_president and his hombre Xtian after the Regina show, and chipped in with them for gas and hotels... i have an apartment in vancouver so we stayed there when we got to BC.....the only ticket i bought for above face value was randomly calgary, and i helped some other peeps by selling their extra saskatoon tickets for them at the show and they hooked me up with a free victoria ticket(thanx wendi!)...

some people buy a plane ticket to a carribean island, some people go on a cruise, for my "vacation" i decided to follow the pixies!!!

i used to do phish tour for years, following rock bands is in my blood or something...

glad to hear johnny and xtian banged out the whole tour!! those guys fuckin rock!!! i was wondering if they were gonna make it to coachella and the glasshouse show too.... i would have continued on with them, but by the time i hit vancouver, i was so broke, reality set in and it was time for me to get back to work...

im making johnny a special pixies themed glass piece, ill post some pics once its done.....

man seeing the pixies every night or so in a different venue/dif city was a damn good time!!! can't wait to see how many fall shows i can squeeze in:)

like my man Xtian said on tour: "When the pixies announce theyre back together and playin shows, you dont ask questions or think about it, you just go!"

I think I have to work the week-end, PNE baby! I actually talked to a lady in promotions to see if they were trying to get the pixies about a month ago (after they announced Bumbershoot), they never got back to me, and then they announced the Plaza show. PNE would have been rad!

....IT SHOULD BE KNOWN THAT IF I WAS INDEPENDENTLY WEALTHY, ....YES I WOULD BE AT EVERY SHOW.
astrocat Posted - 05/06/2004 : 20:26:33
We saw johnny_4_president and his friend at the first Eugene show. They were debating about whether to go to Davis. They said they'd done the rest of the tour. We told them they had to do Davis to finish it off--someone needed to be the people to do the whole tour. As soon as we walked into the Davis show we saw them...so I believe they are the big winners!

whoops, wrong thread
shineoftheever Posted - 05/03/2004 : 17:18:36
Yeah, I'm thinking Bumbershoot and Vancouver (I live here/there too), Toronto and Montreal, possibly make a week of it and go to Detroit the week-end before. Also, I have a cousin who is a huge Pixies fan who lives in Kentucky so if they get near there, we'll meet up somwhere and have a visit. I'm starting to save now!

i managed to catch all the canadian shows, and if i still had money after vancouver i probably would of kept going:)

two guys i raged most of the tour with saw all the canadian shows plus i know they made it to spokane, boise, and eugene, not sure yet if they kept on til coachella, they were still debating that last time i talked to them... one of them posts here on the forum as "johnny 4 president"

now im gearing up to hit as many fall shows as i can, im definitely excited to they are coming back to vancouver where i live on sept 7!!! and i turn 30 years old on oct 13 so maybe i'll have to journey out to the fox theatre in ATL.... those 4 nights in chicago tempt me ever so....

peace,
aaron

Marbleslinger started in Minneapolis or Winnipeg and went all the way to the two Vancouver shows. I'm pretty sure that's the longest anyone followed them...
