picks_ease...I was also 3 people back, right in front of Kim! We musta been sharing the same exact spot. gnashbat...Kim said, "Was anybody here last night? I think I'm doing way better tonight."

The show was great...lots of crowd energy and moshing throughout the entire set. Can't believe it was more pushy the night before...or maybe I'm getting too old to be near the mosh pit, heh.

Compared to Davis, I had a much better time at the Eugene show. Being on the floor with all the moving bodies, pogo-ing, getting pushed and squished...with the Pixies right in front of you...what an experience! At the Davis show, I was up on the elevated walkway and preoccupied with taking pictures so it just wasn't as much fun.

I enjoyed the song selection more at Eugene too. They opened with Planet of Sound! rocked! And we got Ed is Dead, I Bleed, Mr. Grieves, Is She Weird? and the highlight for me: Wave UK Surf...man that was sweet!

I hope he didn't do a solo acoustic show at a pre-school. My band has a song we're working on about us playing our first gig at a pre-school. It'd be like we're ripping him off!! Oh well. He is infallable after all.

I went to 3 shows and liked this one the best. Helps that we were right up front between Chucky and Joe. This one, following the very good Boise show, fully quenched my thirst for Pixies music. I'm sure I'll get thirsty again for the fall shows.

Does anyone remember between songs how Frank & Kim chatted about Frank having visited a kindergarten earlier that day. What gives? Maybe his girlfriend has a 6 year-old? Or did he do solo acoustic at a pre-school?

great show. I went to Spokane on the 24th and everything about the 2nd Eugene show was better. The crowd was great, great view from everywhere, non-smoking venue and most importantly the band was on. Joey broke out the hollow body guitar for a few songs (Here comes your man, In heaven and slow version of Wave of Mutilation). You could tell that the band had a great time and so did I.

Bend is 175 miles from Portland, about three and a half hours at a leisurely pace.

And I, for one, thought Helio Sequence was fantastic and a great, non-obvious choice for an opening act.

how far is bend from portland?

Why is 'monosyllabic' such a long word?

The show was very good indeed. I was about 10 people back from the stage, right of center. Wuz smooshed up against people for most of the show. It was nice. I got #20 of 1000 on the CD(for whatever that's worth). I listened to the whole thing on my trip back to Port-land. Cool-cool stuff. Nice to hear Portland talent open the show. I saw da Pixies twice on the Trompe le Monde tour. Wednesday nites show was almost on par with their last Portland show 13 years ago. Unless they return to PDX it looks like this will probably be my very last Pixies show. Thanks for the great rock musique folks!

Heh - Hagrid busted me last night taking pictures during the encore - I missed the last 2 songs while they made me delete my photos from my digital camera. So sad until I got home & used a data recovery program to salvage all of them from the flash memory!

What a show! Like others have said - the band was rockin' with no visible signs of rust. Also got Disclive CD #25 of 1000 for the show.

Went to both nights and I simply cannot wipe the grin off my face. I love that ring in my ears as it reminds me the shows were real. I preordered my disclives also and didnt even realize you could pick em up there. duh! so i dont have the setlist but listened to a copy someone else in the car bought on the ride back. Some song add ons (last night) to those already mentioned:

Blown away
Is she wierd

encore:
gigantic
tame
in heaven
wave (doolittle)

although my music tastes have varied over the years the pixies have never once left my rotation. i have always said that show in 91 w/Pere Ubu was the greatest I'd ever been too and these were a close second. the pixies just fucking rock.

They had this big staff guy up near I was who looked like "Hagrid" from Harry Potter who kept busting people. I don't have a problem with them doing that, it's kind of annoying anyway having someone near you keep shooting off photos. They busted one guy for taping I saw which was kind of idiotic considering you could buy a much better quality "official bootleg" there anyway. I pre-ordered my DiscLive and decided to get it shipped so we didn't have to stick around afterward (90-minute drive home) but now I'm wishing I had it now so I could listen to it again! :(
Luxowell Posted - 04/29/2004 : 11:31:38
all i know is the first night, they were busting people with cameras left and right up in the seat area.

they got me on the last song of the encore :)

Does anybody have the complete set list in the correct order?

What an experience! My wife and I have wanted to see the pixies live for 10+ years and last night was finally our chance. With a 2-month-old baby at home this was the only show we could make (although I bought the DiscLive of Tuesday's Eugene show as well as last night's). Fantastic! I love the McDonald, where I've also seen Elvis Costello and Lucinda Williams, it's such a great intimate venue and you really feel like you're SEEING the bands. Pixies were everything I hoped -- and even better! I worried they'd be "rusty" but the kinks are gone. Santiago was my surprise of the night, good lord did he shred on guitar! Frank/Charles ruled, I think his vocal chords must be titanium by now. Kim Deal was cute as ever, a little more in the background and sometimes her vocals a bit thin but the skills were there. A good crowd, we hung out at the side wall as we're too old for the front pit but it was great, at 6' 2" I could see over everyone well on the sloped floor. So glad I bought the disc so I can relive this show again and again. My personal highlights were "Monkey Gone To Heaven," which I was hoping they'd play -- awesome to see the crowd raising their fingers to count along with Frank -- "and if the Devil is 6..." Also loved "Hey," "Gouge Away," "Here Comes Your Man," a fantastic "Debaser," and it was so cool to hear Kim singing "The Radiator Song" at the end.

Great show tonight. The whole band seemed to be enjoying the show. The crowd was pretty pushy early, but settled down a little after the first 5 songs or so. Virtually no crowd banter, which is expected. Kim said something to the crowd between songs once, but I have no idea what she said. As they took their bows after the set, there were huge smiles on all the band members' faces. Dave came up front and was pointing to Frank and Kim, alternately. The songs were very tight, and Kim even remembered all the verses to Gigantic, maybe it helped that it was the first song of the encore - so she had a chance to go over it back stage, perhaps.... Adding to the songs already mentioned, they played:

U-Mass
Levitate Me
Tame
Here Comes Your Man
Gouge Away
River Euphratees
Wave of Mutilation - Both UK and Doolittle versions
In Heaven

I am missing a few I am sure...

Another great show! The crowd was a lot better tonight I thought. A lot less pushing. A lot more enjoying. I was about three people back in front of Kim. She was great and they all looked like they were having a great time. Not too many songs from the night before. Once again here's my memory lapse list of songs that should be added to. In no particular order:

Planet Of Sound
Caribou
Ed Is Dead
Wave Of Mutiliation
Hey
Bone machine
Gigantic
Where Is My Mind?
Debaser
Vamos
Monkey Gone To Heaven
Nimrod's Son
Velouria
...etc
