Both Eugene shows are incredible.

I'm still hoping a good recording of the Paris 14/6 show is out there somewhere, I was at the show and it was very good.

anyone else?

i personally like listening to both vancouver shows in a row. saskatoon still rocks, eugene on the 28th is pretty good. i have listened to all 4 brixtons and the 4th is wicked bad(as in good).

OK, so now everyone has their Disclive CDs and has listened to them, what is everyone's favourite Disclive bootleg(s)??

Dallas Posted - 05/21/2004 : 12:09:14
Although Joey's 'solo' from Gigantic on Thursday is hilarious...and it rocks. You have to hear them all really...
Dallas Posted - 05/21/2004 : 12:08:28
I was at the two vancouver shows and think Friday was distinctly better (I would have never predicted that after being blown away Thursday). The CD for Friday seems to have a better mix for me as well.

I have most of the disclive cd's on the way, so, I cant wait to compare/contrast.

Ha ha "pushy pushy"

Also, Joey got on the Mic at Coachella. Outside of La La Love You, that's pretty unprecedented. And based on the video I saw, his guitar sort of played itself during Vamos.

Yeah, joey played the guitar and then put it between frank and him, he took one "baqueta" of dave and hit the strings to produce the Vamos fuzzy interlude. the guitar starts to sound lonely and Joey shows us the lonely guitar performance.... good job Mr. Guitar¡¡¡

I think the first night in Vancouver was the best.I went to both shows.Maybe it was because it was the first night. I met Kim and Frank and David the second night. They were both amazing. The more I think about it, the more I don't know.

Curitiba was the one. Probably you'll never hear the best show of the entire tour...
Ok, I'm joking. I haven't listened any show until now. I can't compare. But listen to a big crowd singing along Hey was great.

Disclive Schmisclive!
The greatness of a show can never be represented by the audio alone.

The Saskatoon show definitely had the best set list AND best energy of the 3 I was at (Saskatoon, Edmonton, Vancouver 22)

I have all 3 shows on Disclive, and yes, they're all amazing!
(I kinda just wanted to say "schmisclive")

It'll be ... just like... they say....

Damn! Like when I was in Canada I wanted to write a check but they only accepted cheques.

Canadians!

Yes. It does.

Oh wait. Does your Canadian spelling of "favourite" mean I can't vote for Coachella?

I have heard about half of them so far, and I have to say that Saskatoon and Coachella are my favorites. Is it just a coincidence that these two shows had the largest crowds??? I think not. Anyway, I will have to listen to the rest of them before making the final judgement...

Vancouver! I only went the first night though. It truly was magical. Can't imagine the second night being better, but that's what the people say.

And having listened to the disclive cds to a few shows I went to, they do not compare to the acual experience of being there, no matter how well recorded.
Zeb Posted - 05/09/2004 : 20:35:07
OK, so the first leg is now over, and a lot of DiscLive CDs have arrived now, so wondered if anyone had a favourite show or two they've heard?
The Calistanian Posted - 04/28/2004 : 08:47:08
Winnipeg's the only one I've been to or heard...so Winnipeg!

I am a man with 3 fingers...but that doesn't count my index finger nor my thumb.

I didn't get to see Minneapolis, just Winnipeg, Regina, and Saskatoon, and of those three, Saskatoon was my favourite show by so huge a margin that I can even discount the bias I'm bound to have seeing them play such a rocking gig in my hometown.

I'll get back to you on the DiscLive's, still waiting for a couple of them, but so far the Saskatoon disc has also been the best recorded. Sounds like Vancouver will put up a good fight, though...

I only saw the Minneapolis and Winnipeg shows, however I have heard the Regina, Saskatoon, and Vancouver I disclive shows... personally I think the Minneapolis and Saskatoon shows were the best so far from what I have heard. I think Saskatoon had the best setlist, and perhaps the best energy due to the crowd action.

I also have the Victoria show but haven't listened to it yet. I am really interested in hearing Coachella... it will be interesting to see the difference between 1500 raging fans and 80,000 people who may or may not be huge Pixies fans.

good question, this one is a hard one for me,

winnipeg was special because it was my first show since 2.5.92 so my heart just pounded with every note of every song....

regina was special cuz in winnipeg i was in the 1st balcony and at this show i got to be on the floor, in the mix and in thie little venue in this random town this show felt soooooo old skool i loved it...

saskatoon..... kicked some major ass, they were even more on point even 4 shows in, river euphrates for the first of tour kicked ass, i thought this show was kool cuz in my opinion this was kinda the most remote venue of the tour...

edmonton, RED's is and will probably always be one of the weirdest venues i ever see a band at, talking about literally seeing a the band in a mall, ihave never been to this town before, but edmonton definitely wins the oddest venue award in my book...

calgary.....this show was on fire, we got treated to Head On, and it was the one show i saw that they did not play where is my mind; i mean i love the song, but it was kinda special to not hear it for a show:)

victoria.... was my LEAST favorite show of tour, i dont know what it was, i think it was the venue, and the turning on the lights, seemed like a short set, ill have to listen to the cd's again to see what i think of the versions of the songs they played.... Victoria does win the award of most beautiful journey to a venue, the ferry ride rules!!!!!

vancouver couldnt have been any more perfect, the commodore is a great venue, and with 6 shows under their belt i personally felt like these two nights were magical, lots of tight moments and comfortable vibes with the band, felt like the warm up was done and the "real" shows were starting to emerge, the antics both nite were priceless, the aborted la la love you, the high fiving, first two nite run in 12 years, the last venue the band played before they "took a 12 year siesta"...., the crowd was into it, the smoke swirled around the band in perfect cinematographic swirls, i hope the camera men got some good footage....

ahhhhh, too bad my funds ran out in vancouver....

til fall tour...

aaron

shineoftheever Posted - 04/27/2004 : 17:27:25
I haven't received my Saskatoon disc yet, but the show was awesome! However, I had a blast at The Commodore on the Thursday night and have listened to the disc ad nauseum. Now I really can't wait to get my Friday night disc in the mail.

By the way, Thursday night Vancouver show during Velouria, Frank sings "....tide of the ever, ....tide of the ever, ...tides of the summer", mistake or ?

Why is 'monosyllabic' such a long word?
vespa59 Posted - 04/27/2004 : 16:25:41
Friday Vancouver was just so damn good! The energy and the vibe in the room was cranked way past eleven. Beautiful venue, great set... I really felt like the band was enjoying it and the crowd was pretty well behaved that night.
roomloo Posted - 04/27/2004 : 16:07:08
Vancouver 4/23! Saskatoon sounds good too but I wasn't there. Of course there's Minneapolis, which was great for mostly different reasons.
