my guess is the December shows are the "radio festival circuit"

stations like Y100 in Philadelphia host these christmas concerts with about 10 bands a night playing ... and December 4th is a Friday night so that might makes sense ... so the Pixies may be playing a shorter set

I checked out the "Tweeter Center" site- calling the location Philadelphia is being generous- the theater is actually in Beirut, er, I mean Camden, NJ (aka armpit of the nation.) Guess Clear Channel got some cheap real estate next to the state aquarium.

I know it's on the Philly side of the River. But if that's where I have to see them, then it's not going to stop me. As far as indoor or outdoor goes, it serves as both. They convert it for the winter months. I was really hoping for the Electric Factory. Maybe they do two nights.

I certainly don't know anything for certain, but I have to imagine that Boston will be getting several shows as well.

Well, I'm just hoping that the 12 day space between Bumbershoot and Austin TX will reveal a date or two in Salt Lake City. I mean, it's mentioned in two different Pixies songs. (The Happening and Palace of the Brine).

I'm just guessing that Boston will be the final stop. It is pretty obvious that it's true. They'll play the final show on the tour then who knows what will happen.

Tampa? Sundome?!? One mile away from me?!?! Looks like I'll be seeing the Pixies three times in October---at least. I never would have thought they'd come down to Florida, since we're always getting shafted. Whoever made this decision, thank you!

Yes it looks like Boston will be the last stop. Too bad it's so far away.

Yeah, understandable. You were in Minneapolis, though, right? For some reason I thought so, maybe 'cause you were on the ball with that secret show. :)

At least the plus side is that they'll be ultra-tight by then and probably have introduced some later stuff into the rotation. And you can hit several shows without really travelling that far (I imagine there'll be multiple Boston and NY shows).

Yeah I made it out to the Minney show, but man what a whirlwind few days... got to Minneapolis 3PM on Tuesday, and left my hotel at 5AM on Wednesday to get back to NY... I had no sleep and went straight to work, but it weas so worth it!

hehe

As excited as I am, knowing they wont be coming to NYC until December is maddening to say the least.

Oh, and I guess that means you can list these on the main page now, Denis. Denis? Denis?!?!! DENIS!!!! :)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The PIXIES CONFIRM MORE FALL 2004 CONCERT DATES

As the PIXIES play the final few concerts of their North American reunion "warm up" dates, culminating with a co-headlining slot at this Saturday's sold-out Coachella Valley Festival, an additional batch of shows are announced for the band's Fall, 2004 headline tour.

Dates in Phoenix, Denver, Tampa, Houston, Dallas, Detroit, Montreal and Philadelphia are now confirmed, with second shows added in St. Paul and Toronto. Dates, venues, and on-sale dates (as available) are below.

The twelve PIXIES' "warm up" reunion concerts, all of which sold out within minutes, have resulted in ecstatic audiences, glowing reviews, and a fervent agreement that the band and shows are living up to their legendary status. As Newsweek put it, "The Pixies' music still feels so fresh: any one of their albums could come out TOMORROW." "The Pixies are still magic," is what the Winnipeg Sun's reviewer wrote, and the NME called the tour's Minneapolis opener, "triumphant."

Prior to kicking off their Fall 2004 tour, the Pixies will do a six-week trek of the UK and Europe which will include four, sold-out nights (19,000 tickets) at Brixton Academy in London, plus dates in Iceland, Spain, Holland, the UK, France, Austria, Portugal, Sweden, Greece, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, and Norway. The band will also play the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan on July 30, and then the two "T in the Park" festivals in London and Scotland on August 21 and 22, respectively.

I'm pretty sure we have all those dates posted as threads (except maybe the Philly one), but until we have them officially confirmed, we don't generally announce them in news nor put them on the tour list. I think, Denis, we should put down the more reliable ones as TBC, what do you think?

Bartholomew Posted - 04/27/2004 : 07:35:52
alright. here's what I've gotta know. Are they going to be adding anymore midwest dates. Sure they're playing Chicago 5 nights, but are they working on a St. Louis date? The Pageant theatre would be ideal. Or Indianapolis? Or Louisville? Dave? Anyone?
noddy Posted - 04/27/2004 : 07:11:59
Philly's Tweeter Center in December? A bit of an odd choice considering they have been playing theatre-sized venues for the most part. Also kind of strange as I believe the TC is an outdoor amphitheatre-type joint and December isn't usually the best time for these kind of shows in that neck of the woods. Who knows, we've all seen stranger things. I'm just hoping for a multi-night stand somewhere cozy in Boston.

Thanks. I suppose there's no word yet on when/where the Montreal tickets will be sold?
