I have seen the Davis show poster designed by Emek, but has anyone seen any for the other shows? Anyone with info appreciated...
Especially the Spokane show.

Both Kim and Frank can be heard on live shows throughout the years and in interviews referring and introducing themselves as "The Pixies". If the people actually in the band aren't bent out of shape about having a "The" in front of it, I don't know why anyone else should.

The reason you have 'the' put in front of them is because when you start off a sentence, you can't start with a pluralized word, it just sounds wrong. So journalists, etc, write "The Pixies bla bla bla" and it sort of sticks. Sort of like you wouldn't ask someone, "Hey, did you go to the The Pixies show here in Saskatoon? It was far superior to the Spokane show, eh?" :)

Actually, they used to have "THE" at the beginning of their name. Here is proof from another thread:

That Gramophone-in-skull poster is very Pushead-Metallica....The marker-scrawl-on-statue-face one is oddly unsettling!

Wow...thanks for calling me out on that guys... I had to check my old tapes just to make sure. Guess I have been smoking crack for 16 years...thanks. I swear I remembered it from my old Surfer Rosa and Pilgram tapes, but you are correct. I just must have glommed it on in my mind years ago...like alot of the other bands I listend to at the time ...you know The Smiths, The Cure, The Damned, The Circle Jerks, The The, The Misfits, The Stone Roses, The Sugarcubes, et. al. ...Thanks!!!

That's a good question...I know since Come on Pligrim there was always a "The" before Pixies. The heritage is that the original band name was "The Pixies in Panopoly," so I guess that's where "The" came from. But "The" seems to have dropped off. I have noticed since this tour, it seems like Pixes is prefered to "The Pixies"... hope that helps a little does anyone know for sure the correct?

Maybe if the trend holds... they will be "PIX" or "IES" in 20 years. hehe

FYI, Brian Bell's sister Leia is a designer for gigposters.com. Brian plays guitar in Weezer.

I stopped by Off The Wall on haight (a great poster shop in san francisco) the other day and happened to see a few of those Emek UC Davis posters. They're probably still there, if anyone's local and interested. IIRC they were going for $50 unframed.

Those are pretty nice. Wish they had done one for the Minny show. Maybe Brian Ewing will do some for the fall U.S. tour. Pick Ewing, Pixies!
