Holy crap, how did I not realize the brilliance of this song until I saw it live?!?!?!!?!?

I liked it, yes, but if you had asked me for a song for them to play live at every show, this wouldn't have even made the shortlist. But how things have changed. I freaking love this song suddenly. The bass line, as I think I said in my Saskatoon review, is possibly the tastiest little line ever composed, the lyrics are cool if repetitive (the repetition feels appropriate here), and when Joey, Frank, and Kim are all essentially playing the same chords towards the end (well, Kim's got the bass note covered, but ...), wow. And then Joey tears off onto his leadwork.

Alright, I don't know why I posted this, but dammit this song is beautiful. What song really changed for you when you heard it live?

If you listen to the Regina show, Joey plays the PURPLE HAZE riff during Into the White toward the end. It's cool as hell. I have always liked this song, but not the studio version! I always thought that live sounded much better for some reason for this song in particular.

I loved when I realized that they're playing Into The White just like the studio version, you know, only dave after the intro, and charles playing acoustic guitar, that rocks!!!

"into the white" is a classic ...
first time i ever heard it was on the DTTP live set ... instantly loved it ...
there is a brilliant version of it on the covers CD "pixies fuckin die" which came out a few years ago. it has I think an electric cello sound running thru for the base line and its even more addicitve than the original pixies version

It's stunning...

Frank appearing on stage in London last summer, strumming the intro. Magnificent, and a total surprise.

Well if you look at the topic, I voted it the most underrated Pixies song. I have always loved it. It's genius IMO!!!

I'm doing my best to reduce all who meet me to tears through whatever means necessary. :)

I burned my friend a copy of the first reunion show and the only way that I could get it to fit on a single disc was by leaving off Into the White. Now I feel really guilty about it. Thanks, Dean, for making me experience feelings and stuff.

Good, yes, yes, and yes as long as Frank's not too parched. :) Dave's vocals come across quiet for some reason, but hopefully they'll get that sorted.

And how do "La la love you" sound live? Is it the same tempo, is it sung by Dave and do they whistle during the song?

Tame is the one for me...I mean, I like all Pixies songs, but just never got into that one as much...until I saw it live. Amazing! The energy involved by every single member of the song! Dave goes crazy, with that little highhat tap during the verse...oh man, the song rocks! Frank's blistering vocals, great bassline, Joey crunching the geeetar...I'm a "Tame" fan now.

I am a man with 3 fingers...but that doesn't count my index finger nor my thumb.
