Wells Fargo Bend Summer Concerts present THE PIXIES!!
The Pixies are going to perform together for the first time in more than a decade, and they're coming to the Les Schwab Amphitheater. Acclaimed as the most influential pioneer of the late 80s alt / rock movement, and a band who effectively blazed the path for groups like Nirvana, Radiohead and Pearl Jam to rise to superstardom, they have officially confirmed their much-anticipated reunion.
Tickets for The Pixies will go on sale through Ticketmaster on April 17th at 10:00 AM. Be ready, this show will sell out fast.
I've checked on Ticketmaster, and there's no listing for the Bend or Austin shows, although the Atlanta, Chicago, and Minneapolis shows are all there. Any idea when they other two will appear? Incidentally, why are they doing another show in the backwoods of Oregon? How come they're not playing in Charles's newly-adopted hometown? Or will there eventually be one in Portland? |

Posted - 04/12/2004 : 11:00:11 As for the Bend concert, one thing I can say is that the locals who attend (assuming they missed the Eugene shows) will be very excited. Bend is a lot like Spokane in the sense that kids there tend to go crazy for the shows they do get because so many touring bands move up and down the I-5 corridor and skip over the areas east of the Cascades. The big difference of course being that Spokane is a much larger city with a bigger music scene of it's own, and EWA gets more touring action in general because of other mid-size cities like Tri-Cities, Yakima, etc. I might piss off a couple of locals by saying so, but Bend has a virtually nonexistent music scene. Since it gets skipped by touring bands and is pretty well isolated from any other substantial cities (keep in mind the Eugene and Corvallis scenes are totally weak), the result is folks that are starved for music and probably accustomed to driving all the way to Portland for shows. One more thing I should add for those attending the concert, don't forget to pick up your free beef! |

Posted - 04/12/2004 : 10:44:26 I'll bet there will be a Portland show, since it appears that the Pixies will be doing a full tour of major US markets. The most likely venues in my opinion would be the Roseland Theater or the Schnitzer Hall. The Roseland is a pretty lame venue, but that's the main place that books relatively big-time bands which are not bloated enough to play the Rose Garden Arena. The Schnitz is more of a fancy, old time concert hall that usually holds events like the Oregon Symphony and other "artsy" music events, but also does the occasional concert for big-time contemporary recording artists. |

Posted - 04/12/2004 : 08:53:45 I plan on going to this show. I too was wondering when Ticketmaster would put this show up on their site. How much are tickets going to be and how much for the seats? I would personally like to get the a seat and not the standing ticket. Hopefully more information will be made since the tickets go on sale in 5 days!
