The Capitol Years are an incredibly good band. I saw them play the Mercury Lounge in NYC last summer, they blew the roof off. Really intense, catchy stuff. They are sort of like the Beatles meets the Strokes with quirky ever-changing time signatures. They sound much better live than on disc, so if you like the stuff on their website, you'll love their show. Not sure if they've signed to a major label yet, but definitely one of the "buzz" bands at recent indie rock festivals.

I can see why you guys dig them. It was amazing that Shai Halperin recorded the first Capitol Years album solo! What a great opening act and I am glad the Pixies also chose a lesser known band...I am sure a lot of well-known artists would have loved to open for this show too.

Thankyou for posting this...very interesting. I'd hate to be them. Just imagine:

It's the first Pixies gig in nearly 12 years. You have to play a full set before them in front of several hundred hardcore fans. Imagine the pressure....jeeze..
