Feel free to discuss anything here . . . the stock market, Clear Channel, THE O.C., how poor of a venue the Fine Line is, the Tyco mistrial, other board personalities (e.g., joshgingery, roomloo, The Realist, and The Calistanian), how bad the Pixies must need money, and even the big Fine Line singalong. |

Posted - 04/13/2004 : 14:50:30 I just got back from New York. What in the world happened while I was gone? Everyone is all over each other with Luce lovefests and caravans and singalongs and places to stay and general goodwill toward each other (free tickets from the Realist???). Wow. |

Posted - 04/08/2004 : 14:51:26 You're right, Jon loves the old stuff and doesn't like your favorite, Trompe Le Monde.
I thought the article was pretty honest. I agree with most of it. He's mostly just trashing what the Pixies unwittingly created after their demise. Some nice poking fun here and there, but I'm glad it wasn't written like a gushing fan because you can find that anywhere. |

Posted - 04/08/2004 : 14:24:38 Obviously, Jon Dolan hates the Pixies, so even more obviously I am not Jon Dolan. |

Posted - 04/08/2004 : 07:05:26 By the way Passion, the way you worded your post, I just have to ask -- could you be Jon Dolan??
I realize someone of your financial stature has no need to stoop so low as to freelance for an alternative weekly, but maybe you found some spare time in between shareholders meetings... |

Posted - 04/08/2004 : 06:35:51 Haha ... I was just about to post the link to the City Pages article.
They don't so much trash them, mostly a history lesson for anyone who has never read an article about the Pixies before:
http://citypages.com/databank/25/1218/article12031.asp
Kind of a disappointing article. I was hoping for more of a Minneapolis angle, the story of the whole Drive 105 debacle, an interview with the manager at Fine Line, how so many people are begging for tickets, choir practice schedule, do the Pixies really have a guest list? What about this Capitol Whatever band that's opening? Yeah, none of that. |

Posted - 04/08/2004 : 06:08:22 THE CITY PAGES really trashed the Pixies in this week's edition. I wonder which cynical and jaded Pixies fan wrote that article. |

Posted - 04/06/2004 : 14:10:46 Blonde Redhead definitely sold out when they signed with 4AD and started booking shows at the Fine Line through Clear Channel. A band really has to sell out to take this course. The next thing you know, they'll be releasing seventeen albums of B-sides and "rarities" over the next few years. |

Posted - 04/02/2004 : 15:07:14 Blonde Redhead were ok last night, i like their albums enough, but they had me reaching for the door during a few slower tunes. but yah, the Secret Machines were great, much better than BR imo. their new album is stellar, if you haven't heard it yet check it out.
but yeah Dave, prolly wasn't worth my $15, but oh well :)

Posted - 04/02/2004 : 14:56:00 I'm going to see them with the Unicorns next Tuesday, it should be an awesome show. I've been putting off seeing blonde redhead for years but after I found out the Unicorns were openning I had to get tickets.

Posted - 04/02/2004 : 14:25:08 Blonde Redhead was well worth my $15. Who would have thought the Secret Machines would have turned out to be the Pixies in disguise, huh Passion? |

Posted - 04/02/2004 : 13:38:48 There will be choir practice at my house this Sunday evening, e-mail me for directions. If it turns out we need another practice, I have the following Sunday penciled in as well.
Also, the Pixies (and other recent events, I guess) have bled me poor. I can't believe anyone paid $15 to see Blonde Redhead last night. But I guess some other people aren't poor, or just like the band a lot. |
