How come nobody is talking about the SASKATOON show but there are tons of posts on all the other Canadian shows??

Is anyone from the FORUM going to the show?

Where is everyone staying in SASKATOON? WHERE is everyone hanging out at in SASKATOON?

This show should be the best one because it's the first Saturday night show.

any thoughts?

Yeah, audiodr, I read this interview and listened to my CDs again, it kinda' brought me back, the crowd reacting and the band playing coy with us while we were all in awe that the four of them were on stage together (even though I'd already seen them before this). You can just hear the excitement in the crowd on that CD. Kudos to Jake & Crew, wherever they are...

Are you serious John? You didn't at least off-load them on a scalper for a couple beers?

BTW, audiodr, did you get to hit up the Broadway area at all? Vinyl Diner is much better than the one on second ave. It's sort of the local musicians'/artists' street, lots of music stores and all that cool stuff.

Unfortunately stay in Saskatoon included seeing the Pixes (of course), surfin the web at the Sip N Chat (to read messages from the forum), and hittin up the local YMCA. I was fortunate to meet up with a good contingent of Pixies fans on the busride on the way to the show. They were all really cool and I partied with them all night. I still can't get over how the guy who padded me down let me into the venue with a digital camera, a flask of booze, among other things.. I have to admit the Saskatoon show was a truly amazing experience in itself. BTW.. never stay at the Patricial Hotel..it truly sucks

I generally think that Saskatoon is generally accepted to have been the highlight of their warmup tour (certainly better than Spokane - have you seen their mascot?!) since it was the catch-all for a lot of people from around the world who came here to see the Pixies (and you can feel that excitement live and on the recording), and it was the last time they introduced new material. I think that there are a few recording that have slightly better fidelity, but Saskatoon's got something special. Maybe just 'cause I was there, I don't know...

It seems that Minneapolis and Saskatoon are the two to have, though.

Speaking of Saskatoon... I bought extra copies for my kids so they could have souvenirs from the show we saw. Got them on ebay because I didn't think of it sooner. Anyway, Saskatoon is going for about $40, but Eugene and Vancouver (4/22 and 4/28), which I've heard, are fetching only $16-20. I think Saskatoon sounds much better than those two. Is there a general consensus about this? Are any of the others even better?
shineoftheever Posted - 06/17/2004 : 16:19:24
so that other thread about the disclive blah blah blah - anyways i got my cd's and they sound great, however, I much prefer the commodore recordings. anybody else have both - agree/disagree.

saskatoon slow version of nimrod's son is way cool btw (did they do this anywhere else?)

I'll be happy to hook you up with a burnt copy as soon as mine arrive in the mail. If you want I could get Disclive to arrange shipment details, you might have it by 2010. narf! e-mail me if you need to.

OK... just got off the phone with Steve...

For those attending the pre-show party, get a stamp and you can come back in without paying cover. For those coming just for the post-show, if you show your Pixies' ticket stub at the door, you can get in for $2 instead of $5. Not much, but it was sort of last minute. See you at the Pixies!!!!

OK, so we're meeting at Lydia's before the show @ 5, and then after the show we'll go back. I'm trying to swing some sort of deal or something, but we'll see...

Why don't we all meet at Lydia's on saturday before the show, a la King's Head? It's large enough to handle a bunch of people, and it's decently close to the venue.
Cult_Of_Frank Posted - 04/16/2004 : 09:36:45
I'm going to be at Specklebelly's tonight, probably. 900 Central Ave if you're looking for it. Go up to the bar and ask for Dean if you stop by, and they'll point me out if I'm around...

I might be able to get away later in the evening and visit some of 'ya, if you know where you're going to be, exactly.

We should probably do Broadway after the show tomorrow. I don't know how much I'll be in the mood for more live stuff after, but there are other places we could go...

Well, I've talked to RantMusic, and they're going to try to play at 10:30-11 to give people as much time as possible to get to Lydia's. I'm not sure how much control they have over when they play. At any rate, they've asked me to make sure people will be there, so...people...be there! Trust me, they're really worth seeing. It'll be a great cap to what I'm sure will be a great Pixies show.

Who are the Pixies? Do you mean the Dixie Chicks? They playing in Saskatoon?
shineoftheever Posted - 04/14/2004 : 10:38:08
I heard they were going to have a two-hour version of Saskatoon-Idol with Kim and Frank dishing the disses. One can only hope! Now I have to watch a band that uses a fucking "zed" for an "ess", I can't ztand this hard rock B.Z.! If they play a Lynyrd Skynyrd song, I might have to sing along though.:)

Any idea how long the Pixies will play their actual show? Will it be like Frank and a super long show or will it be more industry standard?

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere but I don't have time to surf during the day...

Yawn.

Everyone here in Toon Town knew it would be them. It was probably either them or Wide Mouth freakin' Mason.
