Posted - 03/17/2004 : 19:38:15 Can anybody convincingly tell me if The fabulous Pixies are touring OZ? And when? Was lucky enough to see the great man in Bristol, UK, last October, which was of course amazing, but FB back with Kim and the gang.....priceless.
Heard lots of rumours, but nothing concrete. Someone put me out of my misery. Ta. |

Posted - 05/07/2005 : 02:42:47 At the risk of sounding melodramatic i would like to say that i would sell my soul for the pixies to come here. I am travelling to the UK next year, so i have been using my telepathic powers to convince them to tour. And if not i will just wrap myself up in a box and post myself to Frank lol.
Arhh the Pixies in Perth, i think i would cry...

Posted - 05/05/2005 : 04:32:53 I think the Amps have played in Australia with Sonic Youth and Foo fighters. When I saw the Breeders in San Francisco Spring 2004 (An appetiser for the upcoming Pixies shows) a incredulous Kim did not believe she had played in Melbourne as a few aussie girls claimed. I think the response was 'I have played there?!'.
It is a pity that when the Pixies open for U2 on the Zooropa tour for the american leg they did not continue all the way to Australia instead we got Big Audio Dynamite which was fun but... Pixies would have been great, (the crowds are so much better in Australia than anywhere I have been) instead of waiting 31 years to see them live, it would have been 22.
ANyway a remember such petition worked to get The Cure to play in Oz.. so you never know so sign the petition.. it is 24 hours flight from England and only 12 from Cali (same as Cali to Europe) no excuses for FB and co.
Anyway I'm off to buy my Edinburg tickets..

Posted - 05/03/2005 : 20:02:19 Yeah, poor Aussies! They seem to have been left out in the cold. Having said that, surely there's a lot of places besides Australia with despondant Pixies fans, just waiting for tour dates where they are to be announced. I'll be very surprized if they don't get around to playing there at some stage this year. |

Posted - 11/03/2004 : 23:03:03 The only chance of us seeing the Pixies down under is if they do play the Big Day Out. Hopefully they will come out for the BDO and play some gig's on their own while they are here. Perfect place for them to play in Melbourne would be the Forum. But any where will do me just fine. Frank Black owes us after cancelling his solo show in the middle of the year. Were still here waiting...

Ahh it would be sooo good to see them play live. just the thought of it is pretty good!

Posted - 08/04/2004 : 10:27:38 Judging from the number of people who have "viewed" this thread, I'm thinking the markets will work and you will get the gig. Rational economics, perhaps. Or wishful thinking. Regardless, 1c |

Posted - 08/04/2004 : 03:46:05 I'm from Australia and I went to Roskilde in Denmark just to see them play!
There are rumours they are playing at the Big Day Out in Jan 05. No confirmation on the BDO web site, but you never know... How cool would that be!

Posted - 07/13/2004 : 18:46:58 I've been all around the world and missed you at every call .. when you were in the states i was in europe, when i was in the states....you were in iceland... iceland... of all places ;)
the only chance i'm going to have of seeing the pixies before i die is if you come to oz...after all everyone knows there's a special pixies hell called heaven and i sure won't get there....
anyway here's the plan, mr black ( anyone know the guy... please pass this on...) it's my b-day 6th april and me mate trev's the 5th and yours the 6th april..
you'll be tired after doing all these shows all year to big gig's so why not come down to oz and party in the enmore theatre.... it's 1,600 to 2,000 capacity and the stones had a blast there last year... you've already got over 1000 signatures in the Triple J petition.....that pays for the night and you can bring your friends down to party....continuing on to maybe a private party the vanguard (they should have a late license by them ) or upstairs at the townie...or @ newtown if you've loads of friends....
then a few days later you can do a gig at the horden ( so everyone can see you....lots of folks have been waiting a long time...)

Posted - 05/23/2004 : 21:00:36 Hey all,
oddly enough, the guy in front of me in line at coachella a few weeks ago was from aussieland! and I thought I was a little special for travelling 1200 miles to see the P's play!:) |

Posted - 05/17/2004 : 04:23:30 I've travelled thousands of k's to see bands. Being a musically disadvantaged topend Australian living in Darwin has Its disadvantages, but never have I been graced with enough luck or traveled enough distances to see a band like the Pixies. When Black francis and the Pixies tour I hope they push north and bring the crowds with then. That would be a concert to remember. I'm sure of it. They can't come to Australia without Visiting the Northern Territory any way so they may as well play and give the youth something to remember.

Posted - 05/05/2004 : 23:48:48 Can we petition the big man perhaps? Several million signatures pleading in a shameless grovelling manner may sway them enough to make the journey down here for the first time together... and there's gotta be at least that many Pixies fans in Oz, surely.
I mean, I remember back in '90 and '91, reading every bloody week in OtS' "Tour Rumours" column about an impending Pixies tour of Oz. Then their name just disappeared from the column.... then it would come back again.... disappear, return, etc etc. It was enough to fray my nerves to buggery. Then they split up, the sods.
So in terms of personal mental anguish already suffered, I reckon they owe us a tour. |

Posted - 04/28/2004 : 22:27:44 Well, it turns out that rumour was wrong. http://www.undercover.com.au/news/2004/apr04/20040427_pixies.html Maybe next year... |

Posted - 03/21/2004 : 21:34:39 If Frank Black is reading this..... Please..... Pleeassee Play... Australia.. in the new pixes tour... we were all stoked up about the annandale gig on your own when it was soooo cruelly torn away from us.. I promise personally to buy you and the band a beer in the townie after the gig... if you come...you cann't do better than that... can you |

Posted - 03/18/2004 : 05:48:14 I have heard nothing to indicate that the Pixies have any plans to play in Australia. This is the best place to find out if things change, however. |
