Hi, I have a been a huge fan of the Pixies since Surfer Rosa came out. I have never had the chance to go and see the Pixies live, however I have seen Frank Black three times and loved it. I have met him twice (once we were in the same hotel in Minneapolis!)
I know how crazy people are for these elusive tickets and I was overjoyed when I was able to get mine. I have two tickets, one reserved for the man who has been my best friend for years. He was going to meet me in Vic to see the show as he is a resident of Winnipeg but was unable to get tickets there. Well to make a long story short he got tix to see them in Minneapolis (much closer than Victoria) so I have one extra ticket.
So what I propose to do is sell it, however NOT FOR MONEY!!!
So what else that is tangible would you consider for trade? I know lots of people that would go with me, but they are not devoted Pixies fans, some are even indifferent. I would much rather see that someone who truly loves the Pixies music get this one ticket as I know I would have been crushed if I was unable to get my own ticket.
So I will leave it up to the people who are true fans and hopefully someone who wouldnt otherwise get a chance too see them determine a suitable amount of compensation for this extra ticket.(NOT FOR CASH)
This isnt bullshit, I paid 33 bucks for the extra ticket, and I figured that if someone reads this post on this board they are more of a fan than most of the top forty types I know and I think this can be a great deal for someone who is desperate to go.
So hopefully you will consider this offer, and that it is not ridiculous. I want to see the ticket in the hands of a fan.

Dave we should talk! See my email addy above. If we've met before I apologize for not remembering... I do KD with a fair amount of alcohol and cigarettes (and I don't smoke) and inevitably meet way more people than I can recall in the harsh light of day...

Well I am happy to say that notkimdeal is cool, cool like kimdeal! She got the ticket and all is well in the universe.
Hopefully I will end up making some new friends out of the "deal" Hope to meet you Mr. Noisy as well!

Greg IS a saint! And a really nice guy! And I owe him many pints of Guinness, and all the rest of the Deal.
Dave, BF did work at Ditch, now at Monday mag (and was cover babe for an issue). So it was every WoM band member for him/herself. This is the first I've heard about doing something for the tribute - I can't believe he let that slip!
You run an awesome site here, by the way. Be sure to say hi at the show.

I've got two extra tickets i'm giving away at a benefit show next weekend (see www.IslandVeg.com/meatout ), unfortunately it's impossible to guarentee they get to a fan..
The messageboard at www.LiveVictoria.com might get you a little more attention than here, not too many islanders around, as far as i know.
NKD - that really sucks, how didn't you get a ticket?? Doesn't your BF work at Ditch? (And did i see him in Monday Mag?)
I wish you guys did a cover for our Pixies tribute....i talked to the man one day at Ditch, and he said for sure, but i guess it never happened.
Anyway, you get my vote. =)

I am Kim Deal in Wave of Mutilation (which as you probably know is your local Pixies tribute band). Do I truly love Pixies music? I only need, and only ever wanted, one ticket. My Black Francis and my Dave Lovering got tix, Joey has already seen them several times, and I've never seen them live. Needless to say it's pretty important to me that I attend this show, and that I was/am pretty crushed to find myself without a way in the door. I'm also crushed that our WoM show for April was cancelled! I neither get to play nor attend THE local show of a lifetime! : (
I've already offered free Wave shows in perpetuity in another thread, but would be more than interested in further sweetening the deal. I'd prefer not to make my offer public - please contact me!
p.s. I've sailed the Oriole a few times - you do have a cool job! |
