Posted - 03/18/2004 : 17:48:31 I did mention a caravan... although I don't know where and when we should leave. I was actually thinking about driving to St. Cloud or so after the Minneapolis show and crashing at a cheap motel there. That would save driving through rush hour in the morning, which always sucks ass at the beginning of a long drive. That would also shorten the drive on the 14th to around 5 hours. I don't know... I just don't want to get to Winnipeg all late and just rush around everywhere....

Posted - 03/18/2004 : 15:05:02 As for carpool I don't know if I can participate (car is full enough already), although someone mentioned caravan and I'd be down with that. I plan to leave by 9am or sooner Wednesday. |

Posted - 03/18/2004 : 14:41:05 This was mentioned earlier, but is anyone planning to organize a carpool to Winnipeg from Minneapolis?

Posted - 03/18/2004 : 07:05:09 Actually, the Pixies did play in Brookings back in '88, on their Monkey Gone To Heaven tour, I believe it was called. They played on my college's campus, but I'm having trouble tracking down exactly where. The University Program Council hasn't kept the best of records. Man, we're getting off subject with this. Anywho....

The Passion Of El Diablo |
Posted - 03/17/2004 : 22:01:10 FYI: No, for real, they aimed for a date at Koepsel's barn near White, but Flandreau undercut the White group in the bidding. Johnny Holm onced rocked the house in Tea, before Orient emerged as the great eastern Dakotan street-party draw. Sonic Youth once played in Hayti, but I doubt that the Pixies would copy that feat. |

Posted - 03/17/2004 : 21:40:59 Brilliant man, BTW I'm flamining it up a little at the minnie/tix thread. I'm sorry if I offended anyone but I really do think that the realist is a wanker. I've had a few and if anyone thinks I should give it a rest than let me know. I do not wish to defile the boards. |

Posted - 03/17/2004 : 21:38:09 Flandreau?! Ha! They couldn't get shit!! They're nothing. That doesn't debase my claim that they'll be doing a basement show in my town, though. (see #4 of previous post with the list) And jackanapes, I'd probably have to have seen that movie to write an adequate adaptation, but here's a poster.
There were only three figures on the poster, so I put Joey's head on a vampire bat. It's a pretty shitty photoshop job, but I got bored with it. Sorry.

Posted - 03/17/2004 : 21:05:41 The Pixies do have a garage show scheduled in Flandreau for the 11th, so the Brookings rumour may not be baseless. |

Posted - 03/17/2004 : 20:28:14 I'll crank out a screenplay here.

Roomloo, it all happened because of something Porkbone said. Then I said something more funny; I brought you back from a heart attack; Porkbone made a hilarious comment and then someone threw Prince into the mix and screwed everything up.
So it's all my fault???
Oh, I guess it is. Dang!

Posted - 03/17/2004 : 00:12:50 Hey, porkbone1, there are four things in life you can be sure of. 1. Death. 2. Taxes. 3. If Kurt Cobain were frozen in carbonite and had to defrost somewhere, it would be in S.D. 4. I'm always right.
Besides, I don't think we need to worry about double booking. Besides being the greatest band in the world, the also have the power to be in two places at once. I think they're just showing us more of their powers now that they're back. The only power besides ultimate rockdom they had divulged publicly before this tour was the fact that Black Francis was a building jumper. Yeah. Roof to roof you'll see him flyin' in the air. *rimshot*

Posted - 03/16/2004 : 19:11:52 Brookings, South Dakota garage show? Damnit! Why do they always have to do this? The tickets to my garage show haven't even gone on sale yet! How was I to know that Kurt Cobain was already defrosting in South Dakota?

Posted - 03/15/2004 : 20:17:57 I don't want to cause any waves here, but porkbone1, what date do you have the Pixies scheduled to play in your garage? You make it sound as though it's right before their 4/13 show in Minneapolis. The problem is, I just got off the phone with their agent. They're booked to play in my basement on 4/12 in Brookings, South Dakota. I can't start selling tickets, though. Sorry guys. And as far as the opening act goes, we did manage to get Nirvana. Yes, Kurt was frozen in carbonite. But he's down in my basement right now "warming up" with the band. Let me know if we have a scheduling conflict.
Sincerely,
Dietr

Posted - 03/15/2004 : 18:57:24 I was hoping Kurt Cobain would return from the dead. Now that the Pixies have reunited, everything is possible.

Posted - 03/15/2004 : 18:42:24 I guess I would wager on the 2/3 Nirvana over the 50/50 Beatles. It's just a gambling thing. I play the percentages. |
porkbone1 |
Posted - 03/15/2004 : 18:36:35 The opening act of the warm-up date in my garage is still TBA, but I am hoping to get Nirvana or the Beatles to open up. I originally thought I had a better chance of seeing one of these two bands live than I had at seeing the Pixies, so I thought it only fitting that they should be the opening act.

Posted - 03/15/2004 : 18:21:25 I think the "sold out" idea is pretty probable... their website says "don't even call us -- it's sold out" so maybe they are just trying to prevent even more phone calls than they are already getting. Plus, one might also theorize that these other shows are NOT sold out, (but that Bret Michaels show was gonna be smokin'! Why did that get cancelled? I had my POISON shirt ready and everything!! Oh wait, no I didn't)
I wonder if this is the biggest show this place has ever had, or just one of the biggest.

Posted - 03/14/2004 : 22:24:42 I'm willing to bet that some people will start to line up at noon or before. The earliest my friend and I can get there is probably around 1:30 though. Which, if I get tickets, I'm planning on doing...whether or not there's already a line forming. Well, weather permitting, I suppose. It'll be mid April, but hey, this is Minnesota.
And speaking of Luce...whenever my friends and I line up real early for shows at First Ave in the spring/summer, we have a couple of us save our spot in line, and then a couple of us go down to Luce and bring back a pizza or two. Good times. The Margherita pizza is to die for and makes the wait a lot shorter.
Also...am I the only one that doesn't really care that this is going to be (for now, at least) the first show? I mean, that's cool and everything, but I'm just looking forward to seeing what could very possibly be the concert of my life. I haven't gotten the chance to see the Pixies or anything even Pixies derivative live, ever, and this is the only show I would be able to go to on this tour...so if I get tix I'll be thrilled just to be seeing them, period. The Fine Line and it being the first show are just bonuses to me. |

Posted - 03/14/2004 : 15:07:52 Oooh Oooooh! Put me down for 2 tix to the garage show! And if the Pixies play at my Grad next month, I'll trade my Grad tix for Minneapolis!
Sorry, but those last two posts left me howling with laughter for a good 10 minutes. You guys crack me up.
