Posted - 02/25/2004 : 20:09:45 Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that they are claiming to be so vigilant with those selling on tickets on Ebay but I don't buy it. I mean, how is it even possible? From what I understand of privacy rights (which I'm not saying is much), there is no way Ebay can be forced to release the names of their customers and since names are often not listed, how could one be known and therefore punished for selling tickets there? Perhaps it is just serving as a scare tactic? If not, how would it work really? Doesn't seem very likely to me. Just some food for thought... |

Posted - 02/27/2004 : 17:54:49 Well, there are 91 auctions for tickets on eBay at the moment, and NONE of them are for the Winnipeg show. I don't know about the other ones, but Ticketmaster has been making a big deal about ebayers and scalpers for this show. They have delayed shipment of the tickets at least 1 week, and we have heard from Ticketmaster it is to handle the ebay problem. Then again, there are tons of tickets for just about every other show on there.
Is it because of Ticketmaster, if so, what are they doing? Or, is it possible that only real fans got tickets to winnipeg?? I have never seen an event that didn't have ANY tickets on ebay... |

Posted - 02/26/2004 : 02:47:55 I doubt very much that Ebay would release information on its users thats not already advertised by themselves in their auctions. As I understand it Brixton Academys ticket agency was cross checking email addresses from ticket orders with those shown on the ebay auctions. Scalpers could still easily get round this check but if it gets a few of them its worth it in my opinion.
I personally wouldn't buy tickets from Ebay Given that most of the agencies probably won't release tickets until very close to the date of the show and then they have to be forwarded on to you by the seller! I just wouldn't be able to rest until I had the tickets in my hands, the wait up to the sale of the Brixton dates was bad enough!
BTW I have tickets

Posted - 02/26/2004 : 00:34:00 one thing I thought, for all the people who bought tickets from overseas, don't venues say they'll hold tickets on the door (I'm thinking people in the UK who buy US or Canada shows). So then the credit card has to be produced at the door to get the actual tickets? |
