Hey everyone,
just to let you know.. the Patricia Hotel in downtown Saskatoon still has about 7 rooms available and it's located right downtown and rooms are not exactly Intercontinental style.. but for $35/night..you really can't go wrong. It's about a $12 cabride to prairieland, but hey, with enough fans in one cab..that's peanuts - and besides we can check out downtown saskatoon before and after the show.
here's their info:
Patricia Hotel
345 Second Avenue North
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, S7K 2B8
Telephone: (306) 242-8861 Fax: (306) 664-1119
see you there!@ in full force

I'm just curious what your connection is exactly with the Travelodge is as it seems important enough to promote the hotel to you that you've created multiple accounts...

I had a fetish party at the Quality Inn, they are freaky there.
Pixies4Life Posted - 03/04/2004 : 15:21:16
I stay at the Travelodge all of the time, I have had rooms for as low as $89/night (just ask for the corporate rate) it's a short 5 minute drive to the heart of the city and amazing food there too.

There is a cook(s) that sing out in the restraunt. There is even a croud that comes just to watch it. Usually about 4 or 5 people, sunday nights there has been up to 15 people at a time watching, i like to watch.

I agree on Travelodge being good and even moreso about the Pat being a dump. But Travelodge, Saskatoon Inn, and Days are all kinda' far from the venue and you've gotta' battle Idywyld traffic to make matters worth. I can't say I know any of the staff at any of these places, though I did host a conference at the Quality Hotel and they were very good to us.

If you want a good pool/slide and downtown, I suppose the Sheraton Cavalier hasn't been mentioned yet. Nice enough place.

The Travelodge hotel in saskatoon is really awesome rooms are about 100$ i think, but they have this awesome cook in the kitchen named Albert, sometimes in the restaurant you can hear him belting out pixies songs in the kitchen, but he'll probably take holidays er something that week because planning on going to a bunch of the shows. But they have a huge waterslide there. Also the Patricia is a real dump it was condemed for like the last 6 months i think, the quality hotel is pretty nice but the staff there are kinda losers, The Days Inn is nice too and of course the Saskatoon inn is beautifal.

The Senator might be closest.
Musn't still be all that seedy if Econoline Crush stayed there last time

Parktown is a good bet. Quality Hotel downtown is pretty decent too, I think. It's also right across from a mall and two movie theatres and has lots of parking. None of the downtown hotels are really walkable to the venue, but I can't think of anything closer. From downtown a cab is likely to cost about $7, it's basically just a hop onto the freeway and then accessible right off of it.

If you want to go more ritzy, the two most famous hotels are the Delta Bessborough and the Radisson, both downtown as well. A little further from the pubs and stuff, but closer to the hip Broadway district (just a walk across the Broadway bridge, which both hotel sit at the foot of).

In actual fact, it's a small city anyway, so everything is close to everything. But we don't have any hotels right by the venue since it's sort of on the edge of town. Downtown to the venue is a 5 min drive, tops.

damn..now i feel like I shoulda booked the Parktown - but hey whatever..as long as I have a clean bed, and a shower that's all I care about. Hell..even if I have to wear flip flops i'm savin some cash so it's all good. It'll be cool to atleast see what downtown SK is like..

The Pat is actually a night club, and it's kinda dirty, though I've never been in the hotel part of the building. Sounds cheap, so I guess you can't complain. There should be busses running to the venue (not direct or anything, just regular buses which go to that area), and the Pat is just a few blocks from the main bus terminal downtown.

The Parktown is a very nice hotel (recently renovated), but it's really not walkable. It would be a VERY long walk, and maybe do-able to walk there, but I wouldn't want to walk back after. You'd be better off walking to the bus terminal.

a 12 dollar cab ride isnt bad, especially if i see some people going to show, we can be spliting it.

but 12 dollars isnt bad on its own, i agree

thanks for the info

she said there wasnt' much int he way of hotels any closer to the Venue....

I've reserved a room at the Parktown. It was $64.00, but closest to the venue on a map. A little over a mile, I may just walk it.
audiodr Posted - 02/26/2004 : 10:13:26
woodworm, according to the lady I spoke with at the Patricia Hotel, she said there wasnt' much int he way of hotels any closer to the Venue....granted this could've been a desperate attempt to drum up more business..but hell at $35/night, and only a $12 cabride away from Prairieland...i'm so sold on that place (I hope it's not a craphole)
woodworm Posted - 02/26/2004 : 10:02:13
whoops its the 3rd show of the tour hehe

well look at it this way
they have a day off in between regina, they have a day off

they will be rested and ready!
woodworm Posted - 02/26/2004 : 09:49:59
well ive now joined in on the fun, im coming to this show
does anyone know, how hard it is to get from these hotels to the venue

should we rent a car, public transportation?

any info would be great

on another note, we are seeing the 2nd ever pixies show of this era
their first one will no doubt be special
but im guessing their are going to be some kinks and a lot of errors
the real first show is in saskatoon
they will be getting all their kinks out in winipeg °_°
Snowmaiden Posted - 02/26/2004 : 02:14:23
I saw Alannah Miles at Prairieland (against my will) and I don't recall it sounding bad... the accoustics anyway.

I think it's also (by far) the largest venue. The capacity will be 3600 for this show...
audiodr Posted - 02/25/2004 : 17:42:02
not sure what the acoustics are like.. though from what i've read in other postings it's not too good.. but hey.. seeing as it's the 'least popular' venue so far - maybe that means it'll be less crowded
shineoftheever Posted - 02/25/2004 : 14:22:49
hmmm, i wonder how long it takes to drive to saskatoon from vancouver, i have done edmonton in 10 hours......and on a serious note, are the acoustics crap in this place? it might be worth it to fly westjet or something.

wade on!
