Posted - 07/08/2026 : 23:56:38 Wanted to flag that a few Pixies shows from the Aadam Jacobs Collection have been uploaded to archive.org and by golly they're superb. For more info on the collection: https://aadamjacobscollection.org/ In no particular order: Cabaret Metro, Chicago (1989-08-10): https://archive.org/details/ajc03611_thepixies_1989-08-10 Holy shit, this one is like you're standing 3 rows back from the stage staring up at Frank. I've heard hundreds of live Pixies shows over the decades and this is one of the best. The drums in particular sound amazing. Listen to it Loud. Always love the slowed down 2nd half of Nimrod's Son, and this one includes Kim's short banter which always tickled me for some reason that was removed from the Debaser single release, but was included on the original WXRT broadcast (and the Velouria bootleg). Mandel Hall, Chicago (1992-01-31): https://archive.org/details/ajc03609_pixies_1992-01-31 Love these gigs were they start the set with 4 instrumental tunes. Who the fuck does that? Well, the show above was an alphabetical setlist and then this one starts like that - so guess the Pixies do it! Cubby Bear, Chicago (1988-06-04): https://archive.org/details/ajc03613_pixies_1988-06-04 Such an awesome early show, with the soundcheck - can't recall ever hearing a Pixies soundcheck before. And from back when they thought they could change the world. Interesting thinking about that evolution - 1988 = we believe we can change the world. 1989 = we are changing the world. 1992 = don't give a fuck about the world. Aragon Ballroom, Chicago (1989-09-15): https://archive.org/details/ajc03610_pixies_1989-09-15 Less remarkable is this one, but that's relative to the others. Boomy venue by the sounds of it.
all i can say, thank god for polio! brian |

step by step:
- Select the files you want to rename in your playlist. - Right-click and choose File operations > Rename to... - Clear the File name pattern box. - Paste "%tracknumber% - %title%" into that box. (there are other options to build the new filename from, if you prefer. for example: %artist%, %date%, %album%, or even %filename%) - Check the Preview column to ensure it looks correct. - Click Run.
Holy crap, this worked.
I had no idea this was a thing. I hate that I wasted so much time in the past renaming each file by hand. Thank you! |

i believe you can do this for all the downloaded files from different shows in one go. no need to do this show per show, or directory per directory.

Posted - 07/10/2026 : 09:11:28 Yeah but I play files by clicking on folders and scrolling to find stuff I want to hear. I use my eyes to see the file names, I don't see metadata by doing that.
It seems weird to me to go through the insane effort of cataloging all these shows on that site but stop short of naming the files after the songs.
I have foobar but I see no way to rename files in it, but it's also a lot of effort I'm too busy for lately anyway...I downloaded a lot of other shows from this site and was very frustrated when I unzipped them and saw hundreds of anonymous file names.
just a nitpick, not important |

Posted - 07/10/2026 : 00:36:24 For whatever reason this is the convention for live music trading. I assume for consistency and stuff. The track names are there as metadata on the files so show up when you play them on something.

if the files are tagged properly, you can easily rename them to the format you prefer (e.g. %tracknumber% - %title%.flac) using foobar2000 (and i guess many other audio players).
