Add BTE!

I feel fortunate to have seem the majority of BTE (except for an aborted St. Nazaire) and all of Doggerel during their respective tours!

A bizarre development: the Pixies are playing a random late August Toronto show opening for My Chemical Romance... Either it's part of a bigger tour, or they might have studio time in Toronto around then? It's apparently where they first met Tom, so maybe it's possible.

Would be kind of a nightmare if you get Zombies in full

Yeah the one I saw was glorious. Would happily go and watch one again.

To be honest those Bossa and Trompe shows I saw were amazing.
Better than ever

Got tickets for both nights in Montreal - reasonably priced too, given the small venue and Kurt Vile (!) as opener.

I basically decided after Bowery show that I'm done with Pixies shows for the forseeable future. Hearing Surfer and Doolittle songs so much live don't interest me anymore.

But ... this new tour changed that. So I got one for the Boss/Trompe show. The songs from the two albums were easily the highlights for me at Bowery.

I had a similar experience at Massey Hall on the Head Carrier tour. I wonder whether the dancing thing might be more Toronto specific? We're real sticks in the mud. My wife is usually the only one dancing at the shows, and similarly has other people pointing her out and commenting to her in the "good for you" way you described.

geez I was planning on going both nights in Vancouver but those are crazy prices. I paid significantly less for floor seats to the Chili Peppers

i also dislike theatre shows for pixies. saw them at Massey in Toronto and it was my least favourite pixies show out of those i've been to. they opened the set with silver snail (this was on the IC tour). everyone remained seated. then, in heaven. next, andro queen. everyone stayed seated until hear comes your man which was the 7th song. and they stood up so lethargically. "oh, honey, i know this one." and then they clapped along in an off beat and obliged manner. i remember this vividly despite it being over a decade ago. what a drag that was.

even then many people did not stand and no one moved at all. i danced a lot and it embarrassed my girlfriend and other people around me "pointed out" how into the show i was. after the show, as we were leaving, some guy approached me from behind, like, he sought me out, tapped me on the shoulder, and commented on how much i had been dancing. (in a sort of, "good for you!" way)

to make matters worse, my very polite and agreeable girlfriend even told some other people near us that my father had recently died as if she needed to make excuses for why i was DANCING LIKE IM AT A PIXIES SHOW. tickets for that show were expensive too. theatre shows with expensive floor tickets means most people on the floor are middle aged accountants who stand there motionless and lifeless.

honestly now that i've thought more about it i don't think i'm going to go to either night in vancouver. i don't need my only experience of bossa / trompe live being surrounded by accountants. granted it's an album show so you'd think the show will be mostly superfans. so maybe i still should go. i dunno. it's a seated venue. i was at the orpheum last week for the symphony. it's just the wrong venue.

I'm getting scared seeing the Vancouver tickets at around $240 CAD... the $80-120 range is my limit, so if Montreal follows suit I'll probably have to sit them out.

Anyone know the code to get early tickets?
rivum Posted - 10/29/2024 : 10:31:28
wow, strange that they would bother coming up to montreal and not playing toronto??
maybe there are dates to still be added

Great news! Kurt Vile as the opener exciting as well.

Does anyone have any word on whether there might be dates between Vancouver and Montreal? (I'll probably do Montreal)
