I remember last year I missed a Pixies secret show that was literally 30 minutes from my home. How devastating. I'll never live that down.
How does one find out about these shows usually?
Where are they posted (albeit hidden)?

Carolyn, the problem with that is how to have a Pixies show without 15000 people wanting to attend. Announcing them means that you probably can't get in. If it's supposed to be for the band to just play a fun, small little venue then maybe no announcement needed. If it's a chance for connecting with/rewarding the biggest fans then you have to find a way to tell them without telling the whole world...

Yeah, I understand the concept,
just let me bitch!

They struck a good balance with the London Troxy shows last year, with the printing out email/direct sale of tickets. Cut out the touts pretty well.

Unlikely, in 2004 there were hordes of 15 year old girls at the show. Add rock band into the mix and you have a young audience.

At this point I think secret shows are stupid.
I'd bet the average age of a pixies fan is 35+.
We're not into hunting down secret shows anymore.
I have 3 kids, I'm tired, I want to go to bed at ten o'clock, just tell me where the goddamn show is...

you have to be on the mailing list of www.pixiesmusic.com or www.lalapixiesloveyou.com (same thing). people were warned about these "secret" gigs via email. i'm fairly certain the news was posted on here shortly after the mail was sent out, so these forums could be another place to find out.

i think the easiest way to get on the mailing list is to download the free live ep (doolittle tour) on www.pixiesmusic.com or the free live show (coachella) on the other website.

it's educational
