Oh yeah, here's my blog review of the show.

If you can get Freesbee and myself backstage at the brussels gig all is forgiven :P

Nice review Carl. Agree on the show, you got exactly what was advertised and it more than met mny expectations.
I have a funny feeling that may well be the last time we see them. I dont see how they can do another tour after this without new material. A great way to sign off if that was the case.

Nice photos, Carl. Looks like you had more luck with the aftershow location than we had last time. Celebrity-wise.

Wow Carl, they are great photos. You lucky lucky boy. Was that in the bar in the Olympia? Or was it somewhere else?

wow what great photos. thanks for going to the trouble to post those Carl. it made me smile looking at you having so much fun in the photos!

Nice one Carl. The disposable camera actually gives them a really nice quality.
Carl Posted - 10/07/2009 : 12:16:22
Taken with a disposable camera and scanned, very poor quality, I know:

There's an excellent video of 'Weird at My School' on youtubez too. Looking forward to seeing it live!

What I love about the Word magazine article is how, when speculating about the 'animosity' onstage, the writer decides that Joey has a problem with the rest of the band! Does it not occur to him that the band might just be, um, concentrating on playing their instruments?

Didn't you have problems getting tickets first or am I making this up? Was there an extra pool for veterans of the Dublin precore maybe? And if so, why did' Sean get a ticket, too?

Any chance we see some of your or your brother's photos?

Hi Julian! Let's just say I got a little help from a good bloke. Will post pics soon.

Myles Mangino's referred to the Dublin shows as a 'warm up'.

What's with that review saying a 'documentary' is played? At the start of the show? Another article suggested some stuff is waiting for the UK and European shows.
lonely persuader Posted - 10/03/2009 : 09:58:38
What time were doors at? and what time did they come on stage? No support I take it?

I'm just wondering cos i have moved to glasgow and picked up a ticket at cost (seems to be a lot of em round) and dont wanna wander down to early to the gig...

Hi Daisy, I only spoke to them very briefly - told Joey it was great to see them in a small venue, and he said "No more beachballs!", and remarked that you're guaranteed a good sound in The Olympia (don't recall Pixies playing there before, perhaps he played with FB). Managed to catch Frank before he left, he was caught up in conversation with a lot of people. I have to admit, I was rather starstruck (he is my NO.1 musical hero after all), but I managed to mumble something about how big a fan I was. I jokingly told my brother to hurry with the photo, Frank good-naturedly said "Nah, we got all night!" I didn't get a chance to say hello to Dave; I was surprized at how short he was, I thought he was a big, tall dude! Anyhoo, a totally fan-riffic night!
Daisy Girl Posted - 10/02/2009 : 16:15:02
hey Carl, that is so cool that the show rocked, you guys had such blast and got to hang out with some of the band. no one deserves this kind of a fun treat more than you becuase of all the work you put into this with all your links. so what did you guys talk about? did you tell him that you're the king of links of fb.net? anyway that is very cool and i hope to see your pics on here soon. hope you get to make it to the show in bruxelles.
Carl Posted - 10/02/2009 : 11:46:57
Nope, but apparently there was support on the second night. Which is kinda odd.

I admit my mistake! Thanks benji. Bloody love 'Santo'.

If anything, I'd be surprised if the band don't get a bit bored playing the identical set for several months!

benji Posted - 10/01/2009 : 12:17:57
but "santo" was recorded during the doolittle sessions, so it's semi-related...

will be interesting to see if they lengthen the setlist at all to accommodate the criticism...
hopefully they have it all sorted by the time i see them in march.

Ziggy Posted - 10/01/2009 : 10:57:16
Well I like it too, but it was a B side from one of the 'Bossanova' singles, I think.

langdonboom Posted - 10/01/2009 : 10:29:40
NO SANTO?!? I would pay that 65 bucks to hear its off-kilter awesomeness.... I am inclinded to believe that this is going to be a set set list for the remainder of the tour with only the order of B-sides possibly chagned.... I love those other B-sides but Santo is my favorite.
Paul Posted - 10/01/2009 : 10:04:01
I'm going to Brixton next Thursday, and am spending at least £140 on the ticket, travel to London and accommodation, so to be told the set is only 65 minutes long is a bit disappointing. Obviously I'm still excited about hearing all of Doolittle and the various B-sides, but still .... anyone agree/ disagree this is slightly poor value for money, if it's possible to say that about a Pixies gig?! Other bands have done this type of show but have still come out afterwards and played other stuff, have they not? Could we at least not get a Vamos to finish it all off?

Wow, that was one memorable night! My ears are still ringing... they sounded fantastic, and according to Kim, that's first time they've ever played Bailey's Walk live. But the icing on the cake was meeting Frank and Joey afterwards. They were extremely down to earth and chatty with people. Dave was there too, but sadly I didn't get a chance to say hello. Des Bishop was in attendance, he spent a lot of time talking with them. Rushing out the door, I forgot the camera - ended up buying a disposable one across the road, the photos probably won't look great, but I'll post them up anyway. Frank had a little glass of white wine, I kept thinking "Is that chateau neuf de pap", heh! Afterwards, myself and my bro went to a few more places, they were playing Pixies songs in Ri-Ra, we ended up dancing and singing along in a drunken stupor! Possibly going to see them in Brussels too - fingers crossed!

For some reason i always forget "Bailey's Walk" was a Doolittle b-side - that makes me very, very excited.

band played well and there was a great buzz but a few more songs wouldnt have gone astray. good to see them in a small venue
fumanbru Posted - 10/01/2009 : 01:11:39
hey, BRIAN WAS RIGHT!

thanks for the update. even though it's only 65 minutes i would love to see this!

I'm looking forward to next week's shows, in spite of the set length.

Will be great to hear 'Manta Ray'!
benji Posted - 09/30/2009 : 22:07:43
5 "new" songs and only 65mins.
gotta say i'm disappointed.
i expect more from the seasoned professionals that they are.

do they play the album in order?

edit: found the answer to my question:
Dancing the manta ray
Baileys walk
Weird at my school
Manta Ray
DOOLITTLE
encore:
wave of mutilation (uk surf)
into the white.

sounds like people liked the show...

all i can say, thank god for polio! brian
