The V festival tickets are out and folks are wondering whether
to hold off....

But so far there is no confirmation from the Pixies that
they are playing so chances are that the Pixies will
play OZ to a thousand bemused Groove Armada and Pet Shop Boy's
fans

Kinda sad for all the folks who've been waiting for a long time
for you guys to play....

In the barage excited texts of tickets and plans
once again I've had to pour cold water on my friends expectations..

Of course you could start a mailing list for those who want to
pre-buy side show tickets .... for whenever you turn up.

I heard a rumour that the headliners have been reversed and Pet Shop Boys will be going on last....is this true????
madtempest Posted - 01/24/2007 : 08:14:57
Pixies are officially playing the 2 V shows, so go buy your tix.

RUMOURS FOR V FESTIVAL/PIXIES

  • There will be NO PIXIES side shows in Sydney/Gold Coast (I have also heard that the Pixies will only be playing V festival, ie no side shows anywhere, but thats not as strong as the Sydney/GC rumour)

  • Sydney V festival tix are almost sold out

  • IT will be hard to get tix on ebay etc due to the new anti-scalping measures V have brought in

  • PIXIES have PULLED OUT!!!

Please note that these are all rumours, especially the last one. I work in the industry so i hear a lot, and although the last one is scary and a bit hard to comprehend (and also would be a major kick in the pants to V if they did), i have heard it from different sources

BUT nothing is confirmed, so fingers crossed it all stays to plan

thats my 2cents

I doubt side shows will be announced/allowed until v-fest has sold out. I mean, I payed $125 for my ticket, which I only bought to see the Pixies, if there'd been side show tickets available at the same time I would've payed $125 for tickets to that rather than go to a festival.

Oh and yeah, in the terms & conditions it does say that the line-up isn't final until the day of the festival or something like that.
raasclaat Posted - 12/17/2006 : 15:27:57
Yeah they could be confirmed now, but im sure in the Terms and Conditions of your ticket it would say that bands have the right to cancel in one way or another.

I bought my tickets, and I live in Perth....I would much rather see them in a side show once rather than at a festival 10 times. Then again i would rather see frank black solo once over the pixies 10 times :)

I've already bought tickets to V. If Pixies don't end up coming i'll be pissed, but for those of you holding off buying tickets I'd say get them just in case.

If they end up not coming I think it would be very possible to get your money back for the tickets, as V has already announced on thier website that the Pixies are playing: http://www.vfestival.com.au/go/artists-and-lineup to me this says that it's confirmed because otherwise it is false advertising, which is a crime (on V's part).

Looking forward to them coming here, and as I said, fairly confident that they will be coming

Dam looks unlikely that they'll play Adelaide I guess. Tiss prolly gonna be hard for me to go interstate as I'm still a school student grrrr... It'd be silly for them not to do the full tour though as they haven't been here hmmm

Hey BH,
I just had a look at your ozbooter homepage. Is it still possible to download those recording? Maybe I just couldn't figure it out, but if you could give me some hints I'd really appreciate it. Keen to hear the Breeders at the corner, I was at that one.
Cheers.

I haven't bought tickets for V either. I'm waiting for some decent extra bands to be announced and will purchase then. With that line up at present i reckon tickets would be selling slowly. I'm hoping for the Pixies side show the night before the V Festival in Sydney that would work perfectly.

sidenote to a sidenote, I bought tix to the fb solo gig in wellfleet when the pixies played the acoustic festival. needless to say, the acoustic fest made fb cancel the solo gig, and I got screwed out of a weekend getaway at a bed and breakfast, and hadn't bought tickets to the pixies. part from being dumb, I was also bummed. so if I lived in Australia, I would go to V. also, I would be so fricking happy, because I lived in Australia. that accent.

What do you all have against the Pet Shop Boys? I like them.

Had to get V tix anyway as an insurance policy...

May be $125 x 2 in the toilet but what if?!

And if there are side shows in Melbourne, oh it will rock sooooo hard baby

I play some pachinko, I play pachisi...
bleach Posted - 12/06/2006 : 15:14:07

Apparently the Coppel )?? ) the promoter is talking about there
will be a side show in Melbourne with the Pixies.....

So if that's the case I'll just fly down there...

Life's too short for crap love or crap music!!

Though then again .. I'll probably be in Dharamsala, still it's
nice to dream!

This is probably the number one reason that they wouldn't be confirmed yet - negotiating these terms. I don't think they'd make the trip for one festival, though with the mainstream acts that are in it, it probably pays well.

I'm with you on that, bleach.

If The Pixies are officially confirmed much later down the track - and don't do any solo gigs - there's a chance many Pixies fans won't get tickets before the festival sells out. And then it's a case of finding tickets for a much inflated price.

I'd be pretty shirty if I had to pay $150-$200 to see them playing at a festival with Groove Armada and the fucking Pet Shop Boys.

Think it's easy to jump the gun, though. Be patient. I'm sure Frank and the other band members will reward their Aussie customers (I mean, fans). Do you really think they'd ignore a market like Melbourne?

I'll eat my hat if they confirm the rumour and only play at the V Festival.
pirate Posted - 12/05/2006 : 00:13:12
If they don't announce any side shows and you miss out on V tix... your pretty much fucked.

But then... seeing as they arent actually confirmed for V well..

gosh.. what to do
Don Eduardo Posted - 12/04/2006 : 22:48:50
I'm holding off too.....dont wanna fork out $125 in case they dont come, and the tickets are too hard to get rid of (dont get mailed out until four days before the event)....banking on getting sideshow tickets....risky
