So a hypothetical Pixies UK date this year would most likely be in the last week of July, don't ya think?

CARLING WEEKEND: READING
& LEEDS FESTIVALS LINE-UP
REVEALED

As NME predicted, this summer's bash is going
to be a classic...

The big names for THE CARLING WEEKEND:
READING AND LEEDS FESTIVALS 2005 have
been confirmed, NME.COM can reveal.

This year's bash takes place between August 26
and 28 at Richfield Avenue in Reading and Bramham
Park in Leeds and will see Pixies, Foo Fighters and
Queens Of The Stone Age headline over the three
days.

"I can't wait to play Reading this year," Foo Fighters
singer Dave Grohl told NME of returning for the
band's second headline appearance. "The festival
has always been a really good show for us and I'm
looking forward to playing there again this year."

Joining these bands in the first wave of the line-up
announcement are big hitters including The Killers,
Pixies
and Elbow, who along with the headliners were
correctly predicted by NME back at the beginning of
the year.

With Pixies bagging an impressive slot below
headliners Pixies - somethingPixies'
spokeswoman admitted they were "very excited
about" as they're all massive Pixies fans - the
majority of this year's NME Awards Tour bands will
also play the event.

There's something of a tour reunion happing on at second stage on Friday in Leeds and Sunday in
Reading with Razorlight and Coral playing together.

Other bands joining them at The Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals include Iron Maiden,
Babyshambles and Libertines.

Additionally, the festival's traditional rock day (Friday in Leeds and Sunday in Reading) is among its
strongest ever with British metal veterans Queens Of The Stone Age and Marilyn Manson topping the
bill.

[a][/a], who were also among NME's predictions in February, have been confirmed too, and Pete Doherty
admitted after missing out last year with [a][/a], he can't wait for August.

"I am especially looking forward to these shows," he explained. "They are obviously quite special to me
after what happened last year."

Tickets for both sites of the festival are on sale now.

will they do a a pixiesdisc for every shows like the past year?
carlmcg Posted - 05/29/2006 : 05:10:15
I've bought tickets for the Lisbon gig from their site: http://www.pavilhaoatlantico.pt

You can select English and collect tickets from the venue. Price of flights from UK to Lisbon means it's not much more expensive then going to a festival.
All_over_the_world Posted - 05/28/2006 : 15:08:33
Any chance of the UK so far?
kelladwella Posted - 05/28/2006 : 14:02:45
Cool. Have fun at the Akropolis with Frank&the gang, appleworm. And be sure to post here about the show afterwards!

I would love to see the Pixies play alone at a mediumsized indoor venue one day... One can still dream, no?

This gig seemes to be a bit under the radar for some reason. Never made it to the front page.
appleworm Posted - 05/28/2006 : 03:49:23
Yes, I bought ticket as soon as I got to know about the gig. I cant wait to see Pixies live. Also I am thinking about going to Trencin, it's going to be quite good festival for fine price
kelladwella Posted - 05/20/2006 : 03:04:51
That's what I thought. Thanks for the info appleworm.
Are you going?
appleworm Posted - 05/18/2006 : 16:47:33
Sorry, but there are not any tickets for Czech performance, they disappeared very fast. Gig was announced at 8th May and on 11th all tickets were sold out. Akropolis is quite small venue, I think maximal capacity is 600-700 people. It is pity for many Czech fans who longed for seeing Pixies and could not get the tickets.
There are rumours (cant confirm it) that band management requested this gig for kind of 2006 tour kick-off.
kelladwella Posted - 05/14/2006 : 15:07:49
I don't speak any czech but:
it looks like the Pixies are playing on 13. July in Prague at the Palac Akropolis.
http://www.palacakropolis.cz/pakr/pub/home/palace/press/Main$pageletManager$ArticleView/28431.jet

Seems to be quite an intimate venue compared to the other gigs on that tour.

Does anyone know about this? It's not on the front page.
Are there any tickets left? And for what price?

This is the nearest they are getting to Berlin so far... (so why not do a warm up show there on 12. July, I ask?)

Carl Posted - 05/10/2006 : 13:35:27
Ahhh.

Why oh why isn't there a UK show?
Carl Posted - 05/01/2006 : 17:49:59
They seem to like it over here.

s_wrenn Posted - 05/01/2006 : 17:26:43
A few people i knew went. But left during the chilis too.
Seriously RHCP were in Ireland way too much over the last few years. Was it 3 or 4 years in a row. They have to make there fans work for it. Not giving it all away up front. What was i trying to say?

Yep. I gladly left during the Peppers, and ambled through Phoenix Park with an ice cream in the arm evening sun.

I was delighted when they came back the following year....The Pixies that is!!

I said to myself last August after not getting to go, "No problem, they played two years in a row, they'll be back next year"
Hence i am an idiot.

Hopefully they'll play Ireland again this year.
I missed them the last two years in a row due to me being a total idiot.

I bet the new album would sell really well even if there was
no advertising prior to the release.
