Posted - 07/10/2005 : 20:31:21 I like Cult of Ray better than Pinkerton. I used to like Pinkerton more, but times change. After listening to Weezer's new stuff live, I'm glad that I didn't spend any money on the album. |

Posted - 07/10/2005 : 14:17:38 I'm with billgoodman, Pinkerton is an incredible rock album. I'd pick it up over CoR any day. If you didn't like Beverly Hills, you'll hate We are all on Drugs, the second single from Weezer's Make Believe. However, if you can give "This is Such a Pity" a listen, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. But I'm not biased or anything, FranknWeezer |

It can't top the Pixies. Cult of Ray, I think the collection of songs, the sequence and the production are weak (by Frank standards). Weezers Pinkerton has amazing songs, great production and the sequence is good too. Actually, the production on Pinkerton would have suited Cult of Ray perfectely. Frank Black has 10 solo records, and I'm sorry, not all of them are better than Pinkerton, most of them are, COR isn't.
Weezer isn't a special band anymore, and was never as special as the Pixies. But I rank them higher than Wheatus, Blink 182, Good Charlotte, etc. There are a mainstreamband that you can listen to

those last 3 well I'm glad I bought them but, I wouldn't recommend them

billgoodman- yes, Pinkerton is an excellent album. I would much rather listen to Cult of Ray over "blue" or "Pinkerton" any day, though. Weezer are ear-candy with a noisy edge (or at least they WERE.) First 2 are great records, couldn't give a crap about everything thereafter though. But no Weezer album can ever top a Pixies or Frank Black one. EVER.
and yes, kathryn...i would venture to say Weezer should have CONCEDED their main billing to the Pixies. They would be nowhere without them. What a bizarre world we live in. |

Posted - 06/25/2005 : 16:34:41 The Subways are genuinely awful. They don't even have good songs, let along charisma. |

Posted - 06/25/2005 : 13:50:04 Weezer wasnt that bad with Matt Sharp....very poppy, but kinda fun. I didnt bother after Sharp left though. |

Posted - 06/25/2005 : 13:49:58 I saw Weezer the other week. Crappy band called the Subways supported them. Weezer were alright, though i can't stand that new bass player guy or the kids knocking my beer outta my hands! Ah well... |

Posted - 06/25/2005 : 09:47:57 Beverly Hills is unbelievably dull and formulaic. I'm sorry, but Weezer have had it as far as I'm concerned. |

Posted - 06/25/2005 : 09:39:34 There are people that actually like Weezer? Someone needs to officially re-name that band "Pixies lite" or maybe, "Thanks Pixies" or better yet, "We would be nowhere without the Pixies".

I m-i-g-h-t be still going....all pissiness aside, it is the PIXIES. It does suck that they are opening for a far inferior band, but PIXIES is PIXIES, yes? Just cant find anyone to go with yet...usual accompanyment touring Europe. |

Posted - 06/24/2005 : 09:35:42 Jesus Christ! I just went through all kinds of garbage to make arrangements get my ass down to TO to see the Pixies and now I find out today they're playing in Montreal as well. I live in Montreal. Well, at least I'll have the chance to see them twice. I've never seen them live before. |

Thanks for the welcome!
I ordered my tix on www.admission.com. Just asked for the best tix available, and they gave me S.123 (which is the lowest section at the far end of the tennis court opposite the stage).
Only problem is - Admission just "upgraded" their website and it seems to be hit or miss. You might be better off calling in at 514-790-1245. I just went to their website, and it wouldn't allow me to request Pixies tickets. But, given the seats that I was able to buy yesterday, there's gotta be lots of tickets available, since S. 123 is probably the 2nd section of seats they sell.
Good luck! |

Posted - 06/23/2005 : 15:51:14 Hi guys,
Long time lurker first time poster.
Just wanted to let you know that there is no outrage here, perhaps just problems with the admission web site. I just bought tickets to Weezer/Pixies, and there are plenty left in the assigned seating but none left on the general admission floor.
So there is an alternative to scalpers - it just requires us to be a bit further away from the Pixies. That being said, the seats available now are quite good, so buy them ASAP if you want them!
Can't believe I'm about to see the Pixies again...it's gonna rock!!! And Weezer will be one heck of a lot better than the Datsuns were last year...man were they bad...
Oh, and the one problem with the whole deal is that the ticket price went up from $45 when it was just a Weezer show to $55 now that it's the Pixies too.
