A curious question about how this song is coming out live since it's always been a rare thing. For people who have seen the first few shows, how is it, does it sound like it "should"? It seems like a tough song to do live, I could be wrong, but does kim sing the keyboard part or what?

That was very cool!!
missing the keyboards though
Mass Pleeze Posted - 06/24/2005 : 23:47:25
It was indeed a very good version. L.A., Thurs., late.

"Little Eiffel stands in the archway."

can you swing from a good rope?
can you Mr. Grieves?,
fbc Posted - 06/24/2005 : 03:36:12
just listened to it again, too hard to resist.

"some people can be oh so dense" has got to be one of the best lyrics ever
Ziggy Posted - 06/24/2005 : 03:26:35
Very good version. I'm delighted that it's getting an outing again.

that's cool. though pjcoble is the man.

it sounds like they're warming up Alec for Lansdowne Road.
I'm sure by the time the Ps hit my adopted shore, joey and kim will be as prominent in the mix as franks "little eiffel, little eiffel" (which i'm loving)
pjcoble Posted - 06/23/2005 : 21:34:48
Is it just me, or can you not hear Kim Deal singing at all in the song?
It's damn good though.
number 13 Posted - 06/23/2005 : 17:13:29
Santiago sounds too low in the mix, I hope it will sound better and will be able to hear him.
Carl Posted - 06/23/2005 : 15:45:56
Cheers, fbc, I'm listening to it now! Aw, great!

They should do a couple of shows with Eric Drew on keyboards, now that'd be really cool!! :)
fbc Posted - 06/23/2005 : 12:30:58
i know i should maybe go see for myself, but wherever you're buying your disc from, ya think they ship?
tobafett Posted - 06/23/2005 : 11:53:33

wow! just read your post and thought "hey, wonder if toba knows if pixiesdiscsdot ship to england?"

i thought it would be a long time before i'd get to hear it.
but yet again, this forum springs into action and looky what i find first thing this morning. Only a link to a live version of Alec Eiffel.

it does sound great, the d'tuning and distortion at the start was a beautiful sound to hear.
it reminded me alot of some live "grunge (sorry)" discs i have from the early 90's. Memories.
I'm just loving the fact Fb's putting his tele to good use. The singing was what i wanted to hear the most.

right, have to go listen again.

There're nothing about pixiesdiscs I don't adore.

I still believe in the excellent joy of the Catholics

fbc Posted - 06/06/2005 : 15:40:31

just sitting here trying to visualise it. thankyou for this smile

"No matter how shitty things get, you just have to do a little dance."
tobafett Posted - 06/06/2005 : 15:38:53
they both sang...it was great.
fbc Posted - 06/06/2005 : 15:35:09
i'm getting pretty damn excited about hearing this song.
so, for anybody who's heard it, does both Frank and Kim sing during the outro or just Miss 'Beautiful' Deal?

"No matter how shitty things get, you just have to do a little dance."
number 13 Posted - 06/06/2005 : 07:32:01
They don't play at each show unfortunately...
Coney Posted - 06/06/2005 : 04:54:12
Aw, cool! Are the Pixies playing it at most shows now??
Erebus Posted - 05/31/2005 : 05:57:13
It sounded great each time, especially as opening number of the Thursday early show. There was the shock of "OK, I'm ready for this."
Levitated Posted - 05/30/2005 : 12:42:30
Yep I guess we'll have to wait that the discs (pixiesdiscs is the new name?) go sold-out so somebody can torrent the show ;)
clckworang Posted - 05/29/2005 : 15:46:00
I'll ditto what everyone else has said. I think it was great and never even thought about the absence of a keyboard. As for an audience recording ... Not to say that it wasn't possible (we all know how crafty some tapers can be), but I'll bet that it was probably pretty difficult because security was pretty tight there.
Levitated Posted - 05/29/2005 : 13:01:43
a recording of the show from the audience would be so sweet.
C'mon tapers let the torrent party starts :)
DeBased Posted - 05/28/2005 : 14:27:06
This is a great song. They're playing a great rendition live with both Frank and Kim singing on the outro - I think this is the keyboard part you're referring to. I was happy to hear some Trompe songs even though no keyboard guy appeared!

the method...of stop tap spin, no talkin'...
mosleyk Posted - 05/28/2005 : 10:36:17
I had no problem with it. Really enjoyed it....and wasn't thinking of the major differences and lack of keyboard while I was listening, so you know it was a pretty good rendition.

I think it really worked.
number 13 Posted - 05/28/2005 : 10:31:35
I'm also wondering how is the rendition, but I am so glad they play it again that I don't care so much (Hope the rendition is good nevertheless).
