Weezer... that's an other mystery thread!
Tell me what you find in their music...
Since you asked for it.
Their music is to me the definition of rock n roll, following the tradition of the likes of Buddy Holly, early Kinks, Cheap Trick. It's fun. I actually LIKE and ENJOY listening to their albums, which is something I can't always say about Pere Ubu's Dub Housing. I'm indifferent to their nerdy image, or how popular or unpopular they are. When they will release a compilation album, it will stand the test of time within 20 years as one of the very best collections of power pop songs available on this planet, just like a Buzzcocks or Blondie compilation album. |

Tell me what you find in their music... It's a third rate kinda bad plain Pixies imitation, so "no-more a teenager and geek-looking" American band... Their music is empty. Too young to be credible, not weird enough to be of interest and boring like Pavement...
I mean I am a Bowie and pere Ubu fan....(U know the rest)

Posted - 07/09/2005 : 07:14:36 They don't play so often Velouria this year, so claiming for Rock Music and The Happening is a bit difficult . And they don't play so often Stormy Weather, Allison, Blown Away and Is She Weird too... Bad. |

completely ignoring "Rock Music" is the most heinous musical crime they've committed thus far post-reunion. How in the fucking hell could they possibly not include this song in any setlist thus far? It makes me want to tear my eyes out. And eat them.
I'm totally agree, I want Rock Music!!!! |

From a rethorical point of view, it is so rethoric that they don't play such a rethoric song

Posted - 07/08/2005 : 08:35:48 Oh nevermind, I see this is a 'festival' show. I would expect that setlist in this case.
I just hope it doesnt bode poorly for the Saturday show where its not a festival. Lets get a full set, please!

wow. back on the road again. well, at least for a few days...

Posted - 07/08/2005 : 00:19:18 The Pixies set was great last night. I enjoyed it more than the Chicago show which I attended last year. Weezer pissed me off by playing after FB&Co, so my wife and I retaliated by handing our 7th row tickets to a pair of eager teenagers early in their set. I really liked their first two albums, but when they played three in a row from their new album, we decided to leave. Great night though. But no Alec Eiffel. :( |

not sure about disclive, but check out pixiesdiscs.com
they announced on 6/1 they would. you can order it now.
If you bought the "All 20 Shows" set you'll still be getting 20 shows but those will include these four that we're announcing now, plus one that is unannounced for the moment...

Posted - 05/31/2005 : 10:58:42 Yeah, I hope that Weezer plays a lot of their old stuff. And I know that it says that they're "co-headliners", but I still don't want the Pixies to play before Weezer. Should be a good show though. I was lost in space last week so I had no idea that this show was happening until my bro-in-law told me yesterday. I missed good tix at ticketmaster, so I spent $200 on eBay for great seats. Yikes, I hate doing that. |

Posted - 05/27/2005 : 11:51:07 Well this is great timing for sure! I'll be on my summer block leave from the Army then and so I just bought a ticket through ticketbastard. Summerfest, beer, the Pixies, and more beer! See you all there, I'll be the one sporting the high and tight haircut.

Posted - 05/26/2005 : 21:08:07 ticketmaster says that there is a presale for tickets that starts friday. does anybody know about this? i would expect that pixiesmusic.com would have something about this if there isn't anything here. but, it looks like they don't have anything about it either. apparently, it is a rock 102.1 presale (the local radio station) but their website doesn't seem to have any presale info either. what good is a presale if the biggests fans (myself and the peoples of this forum included) aren't included? anyways, there is a presale from 10 am friday the 27th until 10 pm friday the 27th, and hopefully we will figure out how to be a part of it. |

Posted - 05/26/2005 : 15:51:12 ok... thanks meat pants... I will check how much vaca time I have left and the tix prices... it seems like a great time!
So I am guessing we can just buy a ticket to a pavillion or something and not have to pay to get into summerfest?
Thanks! |
Meatpants |
Posted - 05/26/2005 : 08:03:50 IIRC, Summerfest gives out wristbands first come first served for the lawn behind the seats. You definitely need to buy a ticket into SF first, and I'd imagine you'd have to get there when they open (noon?) to have a chance to get a wristband. |

Posted - 05/25/2005 : 17:13:16 ok this sounds really tempting thanks Steak and Sabre for posting.
One question... one the second to last paragraph... it explains how the free tix work.
They were saying there would be a limited amount of free tix... does anyone know how many?
Also it said it would be available to those who have already gained admission to the grounds. Do you know if this means that you have to get a ticket to get a free ticket?
Thanks |

Posted - 05/25/2005 : 07:11:55 I love Weezer so much. They were a brilliant band, and I even love the stuff that other people deemed patchy (Green, Maladroit). However, Make Believe is mostly terrible. There are a few good tracks, but it actually hurts me to listen to some of the others. I've had a look at recent =w= setlists and it looks like the band are just as skeptical of the material- there are only two or three songs from the latest 'effort' in there at most. I still have my ticket for Carling Academy in June though :D
Weezer supporting the Pixies would probably kill me :D
