Posted - 01/24/2005 : 16:56:27 Your CDs have been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.
A team of 50 employees inspected your CDs and polished them to make sure they were in the best possible condition before mailing.
Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over the crowd as he put your CDs into the finest gold-lined box that money can buy.
We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of Portland waved 'Bon Voyage!' to your package, on its way to you, in our private CD Baby jet on this day, Monday, January 24th.
I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. We sure did. Your picture is on our wall as "Customer of the Year". We're all exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!
Thank you once again,
Derek Sivers, president, CD Baby the little CD store with the best new independent music phone: 1-800-448-6369 email: cdbaby@cdbaby.com http://www.cdbaby.com

Posted - 01/30/2005 : 19:57:42 I think the "notes" that pixiesdiscs mentioned should have more accurately said "credit notes" because that is really what the notes are on the CD's. I do see how that could have been misleading. Honestly, with the lack of turn around time, I am glad to even have CD's available of these shows.

Posted - 01/29/2005 : 23:39:18 Well, I listened to the discs I got.
The sound quality was amazing. It is by far the best sounding live recording ever.
I really like the Boston Dec 9th show. I didn't see this show it person. It was a great setlist and a great preformance.
I really liked the last two 12/18 shows two!!! It was cool cuz I am pretending that hopefully in those moments when you can hear the whole crowd scream, maybe my scream got picked up! Those shows were amazing live and it was so cool to hear them on cd again!
It's tough to say which one is better, because they're both so good, but I am going to stick with my inital opinion that the first one was my fave!!!!
Thanks Pixies and Jake for putting this all together for us fans!!!! It's great!!! |

Posted - 01/29/2005 : 18:04:37 hi there,
Joey did not take a picture for that show, not sure why. And although, I am not possitive, I don't think the pixies were into the idea of having their live picture on the discs. I see what you mean about the picture in that cd not meaning that much to you, I agree. Hopefully some of the people who were in the picture, which was taken from a show that did not have any live cd issued or released, will get a kick out of it.

Posted - 01/29/2005 : 12:40:38 I think you're missing one of my key points:
The picture inside my CD set is NOT FROM MY SHOW. A picture of a random crowd means absolutely nothing to me. If they didn't have a useable Joey pic from my show (12/12), they should've used a picture of the band from my show, or another picture of the crowd from my show. |

Posted - 01/29/2005 : 11:27:50 I guess it's the way you look at it. I forgot about the notes. I think the pictures of the crowd count as pictures in my mind!
I agree chesss piece that were are very lucky to have these recordings in the first place.
I haven't listend yet but in the next few hours I am going to listen to all the shows. I can't wait! |

Posted - 01/29/2005 : 06:03:18 But everything they said would be in the set ISN'T there. They promised pictures and notes from my show; I got neither in my set. I have one photo of some other crowd in the CD tray. And, they clearly didn't take enough care to even split the tracks up correctly. Mine just isn't what was promised, and I can't help but be disappointed by that.
Again, I'm glad I have it at all, and that it sounds so good. It just needed a couple of extra steps of follow-through. |

Uhhh.... what's the surprise?
If you mean the crowd shot, they talk about that all over the website... and my Dec. 12 show includes a picture of some other crowd, as they announced a few weeks ago.
Now that I've listened a few times, I'll also add to my list of complaints that Nimrod's Son is split in half. Yep, it starts on the same track as Holiday Song, and the track changes during the slowdown in the middle of the song.
Well-recorded? Yes. Well-mixed? Absolutely. But the presentation, which was promised to be so impressive, is absolutely awful and a HUGE disappointment.
Honestly though thinking back the track listing, the numbering, the digipack, the graphics and photos-- everything that they said would be on there. I was thinking the photos would be of the band, but I definatly think the crowd shot is way cooler.
Yeah, I was just trying to keep it a secret. I forgot and it was so cool when I opened it up. Fudd and his sons are on one of the CD's it's just cool to actually know someone on there.
I am guessing those were the pics Joey snapped with his camera phone during the Vamos solo.
Anyway I thought it was cool!
I am going to finally have a chance to listen tomorrow! I can't wait!! |

Posted - 01/25/2005 : 22:08:06 Sir Rockabye, I bet everything's cool. I am guessing they will leave it in your mailbox. But if not, they should leave you a note.
I think mine might have gotten here yesterday. We had a note there was a package-- but because of our schedules, we haven't had a chance to pick it up yet. |

Posted - 01/25/2005 : 18:35:59 Ugh, mine still isn't here. I'm starting to get worried about it although it is only a day later so far then the lot of you. I've never ordered a CD directly my house before. Do I have to be home for it to be delivered, or will they just leave it on my stoop?

Posted - 01/25/2005 : 16:21:57 Got mine today! The set really does sound amazing... very full and rich, not quiet and tinny like the Disclives often did. And U-Mass really did kick as much ass that night as it seemed to in the front row.
I do again have to bitch about the packaging, tho... from pixiesdiscs.com:
"Each package will be individually numbered and include pix, a track-list and notes from the specific show recorded"
I got #915/1000, and sure, the tracks are identified, but there are no pictures of my show nor any kind of "notes." The only picture in the set is the Joey one, which as the website stated, is actually from a different show. With all the video and pro photography going on, I was expecting SOME shot of the band from that night. And notes. And, as with the Disclives, it's one disc of awesome split unnecessarily in half.
*sigh*
Again, great recording and a great show tho. |

Posted - 01/24/2005 : 19:57:52 Mine shipped Friday. I was hoping to get it today, but maybe tomorrow...
I was kind of bummed to see that the Joey audience pic in my CD won't be of my show (dec 12). We were totally in the front, right in front of Joey, so of COURSE that one didn't make it... |
