hey all!

AWESOME fucking show..... the pixies must be playin' their late show right now.

i wrote the setlist down on my hand.... but my writing was sloppy because it was dark.... but this is pretty close:

Wave of Mutilation [UK Surf]
In Heaven
Here Comes Your Man
Nimrod's Son
Blown Away (YESSSS!!!! BOSSANOVA!!!!)
Holiday Song
Cactus
Ed is Dead
Mr. Grieves
Vamos
Winterlong (YEESSSSS!!!!)
Isla de Encanta (not positive... too sloppy to tell for sure)
Monkey Gone to Heaven
Caribou
Planet of Sound
Velouria
I Bleed
Crackity Jones
Something Against You
Bone Machine (once again, not 100% sure because of the sloppyness)
Broken Face
U-Mass
Hey
Gouge Away
No. 13 Baby
Tame
Wave of Mutilation (Doolittle)
Debaser
--------------
Gigantic
(Where is my Mind went somewhere in the first few songs.... I forgot to write it down.... there also might have been a song i forgot to write down between caribou and planet of sound and there might not actually be a song between something against you and broken face... those could just be extraneous scribbles....im sorry...)

the setlist was very similar to the show i saw in camden on 12/4. can anyone fill in my blanks!?!??!

overall it was a great show... but it was so damn loud that some of the songs sounded severly mutated. especially charles' vocals on velouria and kims bass on i bleed.

one really cool thing that happened was during the acoustic guitar intro to vamos, i screamed out the spanish part and charles seemed to notice and look at me... it was AWESOME!!! \m/

so yeah, besides the crazy sound shit it was great... lemme know what you guys thought and id appreciate some help with the setlist.

i also took some pics that ill post soon.

rock and roll!!

simibaby that was you? My freinds and i heard you and thought highly of comment, no really we did. Never thought id find out who that was, so wierd to think that it comes around like this...damn...

Acually, I went for my friends and I went for Watt and we had seen the pixies before. And what a good choice it was indeed. We would have seen him in a small venue like we did with burma, but watt and our scheduales never did meet except for this show. And the pixies blew me away.

Maybe you saw us, we were almost to the front, about forth rowish, on the right side, mid right...i dunno... My friends, two of em, were jumping, most noticiably during this aint no picnic.

DAmn, I find it so amusing, and disturbing, that I found out who yelled san pedro when he cam eon stage, added a very cool touch....well done

simibaby... describe yourself.... i saw two dudes who were about ten feet away from me who seemed to be the only people who were digging mikes stuff. do you have a long(ish) beard or were you wearing a durag(sp?)?

Hey, Big Galoof: Just wanted to respond to your Mike Watt query. As with most opening bands, it seemed that 97% of the people didn't know who he was, but did they get a wake-up call! He was possessed! As soon as his Royal Bassness took the stage(since all was quiet) I screamed out, "San Pedro!" and the drummer gave me a smile and a thumbs-up. I was so happy that he went right into the new album and more than half of his set was the new stuff. What a phenomenal artist and the combo of bass/Hammond organ/drums was intense.
People saw me moving like a crazed person and a few asked me who Mike was, they were blown away. I told my friends that his album is one whole song re: his near-fatal ilness and the anger/determination/refusal-to-give-up- ness was palpable in the music.

I was fortunate enuf to have caught 2 shows of his in NYC in Oct (an hour and a half of Watt!) where he played the Entire albun, straight thru. Then did a long encore of Minutemen stuff, Dylan, etc.
What a great nite last Sat was.....Mike Watt then the Pixies!!
Peace

hey mammynuns - i know you think that the zappa/thingfish reference of your nick is lost on all us uncultured FB fans, but it ain't. ;P and: thanks for your comments about watt's performance on 12/18... anyone else?

i liked the first half of his set. it was funny and cool and shit. the second half was angry yelling about politics or something. i wasnt really feeln that part.
big_galoof Posted - 12/20/2004 : 10:41:33
anyone willing to weigh in on watt's performance saturday night? i've seen him play in a small club setting about five times and he's blown me away with every performance, but i'm not sure how his music (especially his challenging new record) would translate in a larger venue... and before a largely uninterested crowd? how'd san pedro's own come across to all you pixies fans?

Tom Waits...

It was amazing and the first time I had heard this amazing musician. His keyboardist and drummer were fantastic too.
