Pretty loopy show, better than when I saw them in Winnepeg, although they were pretty rusty then...Was wishing for winterlong but got # 13 instead, very happy...Set list that they had printed up was no where even close to what they actually played (my friend got the set list, so I could compare)...Frank was really goofy, walking funny and dancing, smiling even!! Not to mention, they played both versions of WOM and played Gigantic during the set, then came out and played it again. Kim was looking at Frank like he was nuts the whole time, even saying "Are you serious, Charles?" They played it out to about 7 mins, with Frank saying goodnight to each member of the band about 5 times--"Goodnight Kim, Goodnight Joe, Goodnight David, Goodnight Kim.....etc." Joey's antics, and I do mean antics, on Vamos were hilarious even posing his guitar in front of the crowd and taking a picture with his cell phone camera!! Hilarious. In all seriousness, if they don't stick together for the long run, they are great actors because out of every concert from every band I've seen, they were visibly having the most fun, and this from the notoriously stoic Pixies. Very encouraging and just a joy to be there in the front.

Thanks for your review, Spaceghost. I was at the November 14th Chicago concert. It was very similar to what you told us about the Monday show. Frank was smiling, bantering back and forth with the others. Joey did the take a picture with his cell phone thing, the crowd loved it. I didn't bother to keep track of the set, it was all good. Frank seems to have lost a few lbs. I'm not as much of a PIXIES fan as I am a FB solo fan, but I must admit, Kim sounded great. I did not expect that. And David's drumming was energetic. Joey is always superb. Except for feeling like I just smoked a carton of cigarettes after I left, it was a great show.

Daisy, Dave King, the drummer, and one of the other guys from the Bad Plus are from here in Minnepaolis. Dave plays here all the time locally with another jazz group, Happy Apple, along w/ the indie/electro-pop group Halloween, Alaska. he's an amazing drummer, and a very nice guy.

the Bad Plus are playing 3 shows at the Dakota at the end of Dec, should be cool :)

Solace, thank you for being the ever interesting and authoritative expert on music. Thanks for the heads up... I am going to have to catch some of these acts live.

Cheers!

Turns out they do, I plan on picking it up soon.

I know they cover Velouria on one of their albums and do a bunch of other rock songs.
